TL:DR. its freezing inside, there are only 2 tables with very uncomfortable chairs and there are random junk stacked up against the walls. The food to price ratio is ok though.
We went yesterday, when it was -7 outside, thinking it would be warm inside, we entered to what seems like a ghost kitchen. It was freezing, if you don't have an arc'teryx or a canada goose, don't even bother dining in. You will freeze to death.
Nobody was there to greet us, the employee came out gingerly and when we asked him questions, he spoke as soft as grass in the wind. Very difficult to understand. We sat down, tried to order one of their 3 noodles, he said they don't have the ingredient for 2 of them. It was 5:45pm, how can you not have ingredients when dinner service is starting.
In the end, we took a donburi for 12$, a yakiudon for 18$ and a karage chicken for 9$. It took them over 20 minutes to serve us and we were the only other 2 patrons in the place. The flip side is that at least it was freshly made.
Donburi was worth the 12$, nice large porc katsu on it, the yakiudon however, didn't feel like it had an extra 6$ worth of food on it. The karage was nothing special, a bit soft, not crispy enough but the dipping sauce was nice.
However the temperature indoors really turned our dining experience into a survival training. Our food instantly became cold and I was 2 minutes away from having a frostbite on my toes.
If you order them on uber eats, they are a decent option, but don't bother going there in person. The place needs lots of work.
Oh, and before I forget, ain't no way 15% of 22$% is 3.85$. that's some shady ass way of ripping off...
Read moreHow this place still has 4.1 stars is beyond me. I love Japanese food but the food at this place is mediocre at best, and the guy who works the kitchen and apparently serves customers, too, needs to learn some customer service skills and basic rules of etiquette. I get it, the service industry is hard, but come on, man. I thought we were getting ramen on a rainy day but he served us dry chicken and pork with rice on a plate. And, I asked him before he brought the dry chicken and pork assuming it would be ramens, if he could make it spicy as there are options for that back in the States, but he began to condescendingly ask me if I had been to Japan cause in Japan, there is only one option. I’ve generally had a very pleasant experience with Japanese people and food, but this was by far the worst. The only good thing about this restaurant was that our dog was allowed inside. Overall, the food, the service, and the atmosphere at this restaurant could use a lot more improvement. Anyway, please, use your own judgment to dine at this place as this is merely...
Read moreTL;DR: Great place to eat for a grub of Japanese food. Fast, friendly service. Prices are fair and lots of room to grow as a business!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat after coming back from the Jardin des Lumières. Cyclists will know there's lots of late night (10pm) choices for a weekday on Rachel, but we weren't looking for fries.
Landed in Raku! Kinda had our doubts since it was empty at the time, but looking at the menu and having a taste of the place, we're glad we stopped there!
Fast and friendly service: I asked for a smaller bowl on the side for the Karaage Don so we could split it in two, they did it for us! Got served in around 15m.
Menu: Appetizers, Dons, Curry, Oden. The surprise was the Suki Yaki. we'd never heard of it before. We were too hungry and surprised to ask our waitress how to eat the raw egg, so we Google'd it. Delicious dipping sauce was the answer.
Prices: Mostly below 15$ if I remember right.
Go back? Absolutely! I need to order other classics like takoyaki...
