Pho Rachel — Restaurant in Montreal

I have been to this restaurant many times. However, today's service was the worst, I am quite disappointed. I ordered a large beef Pho. All my family members got theirs and finally the waiter came to me and said: Am I forgetting your order? If so, what is your order? I told him I ordered beef Pho. A few minutes later he sent me my meal and I discovered it was not beef Pho but chicken vegetable soup. I called the waiter and told him about the wrong meal. This is how he replied to me: "You cannot have chicken? Cause we don't have beef. Please TAKE it!" At the moment I was speechless, so I took the meal. However, never have I been served like this. First, I thought it would be better if he could inform me first about no more beef and let ME choose an alternative, instead of just serving a random one without even telling me... I understand that today they are very busy, however I truly hope that this same thing won't...

I dont get the high ratings. The chicken in my pho was definitely not fresh (it had the old cooked chicken taste). Clearly leftover meat. The fried banana is half a banana wrapped in a wonton wrapper...not typical and wayyyyy too expensive for what you get. I had viet fried banana before in real batter that came with ice cream for cheaper. The broth does not have much flavor except salt. The noodles are not your typical again (more spaghettini like) but I didn't dislike them. The extra little fried onions sprinkled on top of the pho were nice but this is the only positive thing about it.

They also forgot to include the little bag with bean sprouts/sauces/basil in my take out...I think there's way better pho out there if you really want good pho and youre down to travel a bit further...

Sometimes you go out for a meal and get exactly what you want. This was my experience at Pho Rachel which I tried for the first time today. We just wanted a really nice warm pho with a rich broth and good meat and noodles on a cold day - no trying to make it fancy, just the basic tastiness of pho! - and it delivered exactly that. Both the rare beef and spicy beef soups were excellent and the broth was super flavourful. Good balance of meat/noodles/onions/broth. We also had spring rolls with peanut sauce which were fresh and delicious. Unless you're starving the medium is plenty and a very reasonable price.
