WORST BREAKFAST EVER! My first visit to a Dennyâs was on July 30th for breakfast during an overnight visit to Niagara Falls, Canada. My husband had enjoyed many meals at other Dennyâs locations in the US, so we didnât bother to check online reviews in advanceâhuge mistake! Service was good but the food was atrocious!
The oatmeal was cold and so glutinous, we could stand a fork in it and was served without brown sugar or milk. The toast was stone cold, soggy and chewyâeven a five year old could make better toast! We notified the waitress who offered to bring us fresh toast however, the replacement order had been fried on the flat top grill! It was hot at least but I guess theyâre kitchen staff donât know how to operate a toaster?!
The three measly strips of bacon were thin, fatty and cold. The pancakes were barely warm and semi-rigid, with only the fried eggs being acceptable. The $7.79 strawberry smoothie was âmehâ, made with synthetic strawberry flavouring which was pathetic, compared to McDonaldâs $4.09 offering containing real fruit.
We spoke with the duty manager, who witnessed the poor quality and presentation of the âfoodâ that we were served and she, herself was not impressed. She also noted, as we pointed out to her, that several other tables had left much of their food on their platesâlikely too polite to say anything.
Three other comments of noteâthe restaurant was somewhat warm as the air conditioning was being repaired and secondly, we were not offered the 55+ menu. The last item to note is that the restaurant appears not to be abiding by the Ontario Governmentâs legislation, âAccessibility for Ontarian's with Disabilities Actâ, 2005, S.O. 2005 c.11. This act clarifies the requirements of businesses offering public services. To this end, the automatic door opening device was inoperable and there were no grab bars in the menâs room.
Granted, the DM was understanding and did not charge us for our food which was appreciated, however, management needs to recognize these shortcomings as DENNYS CORPORATE would not take too kindly to such shameful subpar offerings in one of their establishments. At the same time, Niagara Falls, Canada is a world class tourist destination and should not be judged by this failing hospitality provider.
To be clear, we travel globally and dine in a wide range of restaurants and this Dennyâs location has serious food quality issues which should...
Read moreWell, where should I start? This past visit to this location was by far a huge disappointment in all aspects. Came in for an early dinner and there were less than 3 patrons in the whole establishment; I have never seen a Denny's this empty ever but that could be collateral damage from the time of year and the tanking industries in that area. Just before our order was taken there was a loud dispute with another customer in which they were asked to leave because the staff suspected they weren't going to pay for their meal. Apparently this is a commonality at this location. Anyways, on to the food. My wife ordered the chicken tenders ($16.99) and I ordered the Turkey sandwich with bacon, Swiss cheese and tomato ($18). When the chicken came out we both looked at each other in astonishment as it was barely 5 thin pieces, that's it. No sides. When my sandwich came out, inspected it and it was old, dry and pathetic. If there's a time where I've spotted a complete lack of care or passion, this was it. Sandwich was replaced along with the fries and came out almost the same but the fries had been re-fried and drenched in grease. The manager had come around to check on us after the altercation with the previous customer and noticed our displease with our meals. She offered to comp the meal but when we received the bill they had only removed $11 and in all honesty we probably shouldn't have paid for it at all I truly feel bad for the staff (servers) of this location. I understand that prices are slightly inflated due to the tourist location but in reality people aren't going to pay these prices if the quality isn't there, and it's not. When you get badly out played by a Denny's in north Toronto, then there's some serious issues going on. Management needs to re-evaluate immediately or they'll end up out of business like a lot of establishments in the...
Read moreWe are a married couple from Hamilton, Ontario. I had the Country Fried Chicken with white gravy and it was amazing. I thought the breading would be heavy but it wasn't. I thought the Chicken would be all dried out but it was smooth and juicy. The steamed veggies (broccoli, zucchini and squash) were not mushy. I actually could still pick them up with my fork. They were steamed perfectly to my liking. The red skinned mashed potatoes with brown gravy were perfect. My dinner came with two breaded boneless chicken breasts. My husband had the T-Bone Steak with corn and French fries and he ordered his steak medium rare and he said it was very tasty. We had to take some of our food back to the hotel because the food was way too filling. We also ordered the Apple Crisp both of us and we had to take it back to the hotel room. We ordered coffee and milkshakes too. The milkshakes were amazing. The coffee was very good. It didn't taste like day old coffee. It tasted like they just made it. It was hot even when I put my creamer and sweetener in it and my husband just took his black with sugar in it and he said it was too hot to drink at the time so he had to let it cool down for a few minutes. Overall our dine in experience at this location of Denny's was truly amazing. The waitress was amazing even though she was the only waitress there and she was looking after more than five tables. The guy brought our coffee. It was amazing service Overall. I didn't mind leaving a $10 tip... We will be back again at this location of Denny's... It was really nice to meet the guy from Hamilton. He was very enjoyable to talk to. He made our dining experience better and we will definitely...
