Pass on this hotel unless you aware of the following... visited here sunday-mon..we chose this hotel based off a recommendation someone gave because it had been recently renovated. Its in a decent location.. meaning its in the middle of all the action IF you want that. Extremely walkable to restaurants bars etc. About a 25-30 min walk to the falls. Very active night life one block away. Go kart track and ferris wheel, dino park right across the street. Think midtown manhattan at rush hour. Too much for my liking but I had never been to NF and didnt know what to expect. We arrived to check in at around 4pm parked and went to the lobby only to find the longest line ever.. at least 15 people in front of us waiting.. screaming children everyone looking tired and annoyed the whole bit. 45 mins later we got our room keys. Come to find out there was no onsite parking… you have to pay $25.00 extra to park in a municipal lot 2 blocks away. This was not disclosed when we booked. The attendant checking us in claimed that all the onsite parking was first come first serve.. ok? for who? We were then told we had 15-20 mins to get to our room then move our car otherwise it would be towed. So after driving 4 hours then waiting 45 mins to check in then waiting for the elevator we had to race to the room drop our things and move the car. So the whole check in process took over an hour which is ridiculous. It wasnt a long walk from the municipal lot but it was annoying because the woman who checked us in albeit nice…fumbled twice, first giving us the wrong room.. then asked my SO to go back down to the front desk a 3rd time so they could refund him partially for overcharging the first time. The rooms are “updated” but honestly I found it to be gross. It was cleanish.. But the room had a horrible musty smell.. it was dingy and dark like a motel. It is not as light and bright as the photos posted make it seem. Of course they turned up the brightness when editing the photos they took for the site. 🙄 nice bait and switch. Rug felt damp. Mattress was hard and not comfortable. Thin sheets and bed was not cozy and plush like hotel beds usually are. Didn't have outlets on both sides of the bed. Rainfall showerhead did not work and the shower door wouldn’t close without using brute strength so water got everywhere. Mildew on bathroom floor. The towels were the cheapest smallest thinnest towels ive ever seen in a hotel. I swear the bath towel was the size of a hand towel. It was also a circus in there. elevators constantly packed full of people and luggage. children running and screaming in the hallways until after 11pm. If you still consider staying here after reading all this one positive thing was we could not hear any street traffic or noise from below (we were on the 7th floor) I honestly didnt love NF so we opted to leave the next morning first thing. We didnt check out the breakfast buffet etc. But after the check in experience and the amount of people staying there I wouldn’t even try. My advice is to spend the extra money and stay somewhere better this...
Read moreCOCKROACHES! To our surprise after praising the room most of the night we ended up coming across cockroaches in the bathroom. The man who worked the front desk that night tried to insult our intelligence and claim we had seen sand beetles ( where exactly in this hotel was the sand located), and claimed we would be safe. When we gathered the courage to kill the smaller of the two, as the bigger on had escaped into the ether, we brought it to the front desk and again told it was a sand beetle. The night front desk staff was rude and dismissive again claiming we would be "perfectly safe cause we looked like tough girls" and someone sly comment about how the bugs " wouldn't hurt their mother".
Biggest mistake was giving the incompetent worker the bug, as come time of check out, it was clear that nothing had been relayed to the morning staff. While the next gentleman that was talked to was more sympathetic, again, it was suggested that what we had scene was not cockroaches but perhaps something else. One suggestions had been a silver fish ( you know how easy it is to confuse a SILVER fish for a cockroach). While the next guest will be safe as they stated they would get an exterminator in, the best they could offer us three sleep deprived women was a 20% voucher to eat breakfast at their hotel....the place we had just seen two roaches.
Overall, the room appeared clean upon first getting there, though I based on stains on the bathtub and small blood stains on the wall, not a deep clean. The mattresses were hard, but the sofa bed was comfy, and the room was very spacious. We didn't check out any of their offered amenities to comment on that. Room would get a 4/5 if we did not end up having to share it with cockroaches. It was fine, but for the price point, I have stayed at equally good or better hotels in Niagara falls that were cheaper.
The location I can imagine is the only reason people would return to this hotel. It is located right across from the speedway go cart. Our room had an incredible view of Clifton Hills, with a beautiful view of the ferris wheel. Its placement made traveling on foot easier. 4/5
The biggest drawback was the staff. Worst experience, the lack of care about our discomfort was appalling, and nothing was done really to rectify the situation. The night staff was the worst and am not certain how he even had a job at the front desk. Negative star/5
Sometimes paying more for expected luxury does not work out. The inconvenience caused us to cut our trip short as we were all to tired to bother enjoying the day...
Read moreI had a awful experience at this hotel over the weekend! The only good part was the hotel location as it was right on the strip so it was amazing for attractions. We called regarding early check in at 8:30am on our way to Niagara, they told us that they would put us on a list for early check in and ensure our room would be one of the first cleaned after check out. When arriving in Niagara around 11:45am we checked in, paid for the room and parking and were advised the room was still not ready but that they would call us in approx an hour when it is & that they would let the cleaners know we were here and checked in. 2pm comes around & nobody has called to let us know, so I call to ask what the status of the room is & they advise it still wasn’t ready yet but they would ask the cleaners when they could accommodate and clean the room & they would call back in 5 minutes, still no one called us at all after. At this point check in is at 4 and they haven’t called so we came back to reception and thankfully our room was ready. First thing we get to the room and notice a huge bug on the window curtains of the room that must’ve just been cleaned since it wasn’t ready till 4pm and we’ve been requesting early check in all day… that totally grossed me out. The door in the bathrooms stopper had been hanging by a thread and many of the walls in the room had small dents that looked like they had just been filled the day prior. After being annoyed that the hotel kept prolonging the check in and wasn’t upfront and honest that there wasn’t going to be any early check in we tried to enjoy our time in Niagara. In the morning the next day all we could hear were vaccums & noise in the hallway starting at 8am and at about 10am we hear a knock on the door… it was the cleaners !!! Check our wasn’t till 11am & we had the cleaners knocking on our door 1 hour prior. Where were the cleaners the day before when I had called at 8:30am requesting early check in ? I found it utterly so disrespectful that they were rushing us out especially after the day prior knowing we wanted early check in and we didn’t get any calls so we essentially waited around all day. It was my 25th birthday & I think the whole hotel experience ruined my vibe for the evening. I wish the hotel could’ve just been straight up and didn’t make us wait around promising an early check in when we didn’t get checked in till 4pm. Just a horrible experience and probably will not be back to the Vittoria...
