Warning: Terrifying and Unsettling Experience – Do NOT Stay Here!
I booked a jacuzzi suite at this hotel for a 3-day stay, and it was an absolute nightmare. I’ve never been so shaken up by a hotel experience. For context, I’m someone who usually prioritizes security and safety, but unfortunately, this hotel failed on both fronts.
Lack of Security: First off, there was no visible security at the hotel, just two or three front desk employees. anyone could walk in without any real checks. The hotel does not provide adequate safety measures.
Suspicious and Intrusive Staff: The first red flag happened on December 13, 2024, when a female room service employee knocked on my door. After I politely declined her offer for room service, she continued to push the conversation, which felt intrusive. She then asked if I needed laundry service, and I declined that too, explaining I only had one outfit and wasn’t planning to stay long. I thanked her and shut the door.
However, shortly later, while I was in the shower, I heard someone enter my room. When I got out of the shower, I found that the ONLY pair of pants I had with me was missing. I called the front desk, who confirmed my pants were not in the laundry. After reviewing camera footage, the room service employee was seen entering my room shortly after I closed the door, making it seem like she had taken them. This was terrifying, and I had to order another pair on instacart with same day delivery not to miss my plans.
Shocking Elevator Incident: Later that evening, things took a darker turn. As I was entering the hotel at 11 PM, I noticed a suspicious man wearing a long coat and beanie loitering in the lobby. He followed me into the elevator, and as the doors were closing, he forced them open, preventing them from shutting. Inside the elevator, he threatened to shoot me if I didn’t give him my car keys. I stood my ground, which seemed to scare him off. He quickly exited the elevator then walked quickly and took the stairs exit. The elevator, of course, was not equipped with cameras, so there’s no footage of this attempted robbery.
The front desk staff didn’t seem to notice anything unusual. The lack of security in the hotel made this situation even worse—if I hadn’t been vigilant, I could have easily been robbed.
Unhelpful Authorities: I filed a police report, but because there was no concrete evidence, the authorities were unwilling to investigate further. It’s a harsh reminder of how often the system fails to protect individuals until something tragic happens.
My Advice: This hotel is a safety hazard, especially if you have valuables or a car that could attract thieves. With untrained staff and no real security measures, your safety is at risk. I’ve since hired a private investigator because I refuse to let this go without further action.
Please, for your own safety, avoid this hotel. It’s not worth the risk, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. Canada’s safety standards seem to be slipping, and this place is a prime example of that decline. If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, or your life, stay far away...
Read moreThis location is ranked as a 2 star hotel, so expectations are modest. It's intended to be relatively basic accommodation. Location is very good, it's one minute drive from Highway 420 and about a 5 minute walk from downtown Niagara Falls, and all the restaurants, sights and attractions. There's convenient parking on site, with quick and easy unloading. But parking was extra cost, at $17 per night. The lobby is small, so there's just a few steps from your car to the elevator. Service at the front desk was quick and friendly. The rooms are neat and clean, but small. Our room had 2 very comfortable queen beds, leaving little extra room for activities. It's okay for 2 people, but 4 people would be getting in each other's way a lot. Room furniture was basic, but there was a big television on the wall. Strangely, the old fashioned television stand was still in the room. The big cavity where an old fashioned TV would go was empty, I guess you could use it as an armoire of sorts. The room had a nice fridge, and the world's smallest coffee maker, but no microwave. Lamps and lighting was good. There was a small closet, with an ironing board and iron. There was no view out the window, it looked directly out onto a concrete wall, 15 feet away. If you want nice view of the area, you'd better ask for one. The washroom was neat, clean, well laid out and obviously recently renovated. Again, not spacious, but was adequate. The hotel has a nice pool, and a minimalist fitness room. The room was neat, clean and with new equipment, but was small. There is a breakfast buffet with a fresh, newly renovated restaurant beside the lobby. Take your breakfast to the sunroom down the hall, it's a nice spot. The breakfast buffet isn't included in our room rate, but was a reasonable $15 extra. The food was standard fare, but was remarkably high quality. Tasty, and with excellent coffee and orange juice. Highly recommend. There's free Wi-Fi, but it was a bit slow. Eventually I used the data feature in my devices for necessary speed. Overall, the Days Inn was good, but modest. The building is older and shows tasteful updates and refurbishment. But there's still a few dilapidated bits, like slightly banged- up hallways that look like they were painted by someone with their eyes closed. I enjoyed my stay but I thought the room rates was slightly overpriced for the small room provided and modest facilities. And the $17/night parking charge felt like I was being gouged, especially when parking is free at many other budget hotels. I'd stay here again in future, mostly because the location is excellent. But I'd try to get a...
Read moreCheck in and out was quick, the girl at the front desk was very nice. Super friendly. The Pros - The hot tub room was nice, clean, and the tub was ergonomically designed so it was a great soak. The hotel is clean. There's a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Even though the hot water wasn't working the afternoon of my second day's stay, they fixed it relatively quickly so that was great. The Cons - The doors to the side parking lot weren't working during the hours posted repeatedly. As a young woman walking in the dark in a strange city, I was uncomfortable walking around the building to regain access when I needed something from the car. There aren't any garbage cans or recycling bins in any of the ice machine rooms on each floor, or by any entrances that I could find, if someone sleeps in and chooses the Do Not Disturb option, they have to keep any trash or recycling till the next day. The side parking lot had so many icy patches it wasn't possible to avoid them all. They did put salt out but not enough or as often as they probably could have. We stayed during a slow time at the beginning of the week so they may be more diligent when there are more guests booked. The snow plow actually backed into the car after it was moved so he could clear where it had been parked... Not the hotel's fault... But they may want to consider mentioning to the contractor that paying attention is important since guests also walk across the lot at all hours and aren't as easily seen as say a parked car. Thankfully there was no damage because the car slid when he hit since it was so icy. He thought the car wasn't in the lot anymore so didn't use any of his mirrors. Ugh. On a whole, there were some mishaps and minor convenience issues, but most were simple things. - aside from having the car backed into... The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was great ( King ) , and the pillows were good as well. Each room at this location has a fridge, microwave and coffee maker so that made things a lot easier. Just be mindful that they charge $10 a day for parking, that they don't have easily accessible garbage or recycling bins on each floor, and that their parking lot entry doors don't always work when they're supposed to so you may have to walk around...
