I’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants, particularly in North America, and Dosa Twist is probably one of the best South Indian restaurants I’ve been to. And not just because of the food — because the owners of the restaurant make you feel like you are having a meal at the home of a family member.
My father was from Mysore, and dosas were serious business in our house. The mysore dosa at Dosa Twist was crisp and cooked to perfection. Not to mention, the dosa is served with three chutneys, all perfectly seasoned, spiced, and tempered. The peanut chutney was my favorite, whereas my husband basically drank the coconut chutney. And, sambar snobs rejoice, the sambar is true Tamil Nadu style, which I appreciated even though I was raised on Karnataka style sambar.
My husband, a true Tamilian, wanted to try two dishes that he loved growing up in Singapore: masala Vada and gobi manchurian. The masala vadas were generously sized, served with the same 3 chutneys, and were piping hot. The gobi manchurian was well balanced, not sickly sweet like many we have had in restaurants, and reminded my husband of variations of the dish he had in Chennai. The kids shared a cheese dosa, and they were thrilled. We ended our meals with a masala tea and filter coffee, and both were well balanced and served steaming hot.
If you’re visiting Niagara Falls, and love South Indian food or just want to try it, definitely give Dosa...
Read moreI had written a great review 5 mths ago, when it first opened as I enjoyed the food for the next 3 times I had been there, all was good but the recent visits..been a miserable experience. They have one staff, who moonlights as 'chef' n waiter. Service is slow if there are more customers vos he is the only one manning the whole restaurant! Dosa now comes out cold. The chutneys given are too little, (as compared to grand kerala cuisine at Lundys lane). Worse their chutneys are always so so cold! Their butter chicken dosa is Chettinad chicken with a spoonful of butter spooned onto it!!! You cannot fool everyone with that version, guys! Come on!. Unfortunately, overall, they have gone down the hill with their quality since. It's so sad n disappointing. Waiter/chef is very polite but management needs to help him out by having a chef to man the kitchen. Don't be stingy with yr chutneys. Don't serve it cold! I hope you guys will make some drastic changes otherwise it's gonna be always empty seats in...
Read moreI'm thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem of a dosa place! The moment I took a bite of their crispy, freshly made dosa, I knew I was in for a treat. The dosa literally melts in your mouth, with a delicate crunch that's simply irresistible.
What truly sets this place apart is its commitment to authenticity. From the freshly made ghee that's generously drizzled over the dosa, to the fresh, flavorful chutney that's served on the side, every element of the dish is carefully crafted to transport your taste buds to the streets of South India.
The service is warm and welcoming, with the staff happy to guide you through the menu and offer recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with a lively buzz that's perfect for a casual meal with friends or family.
In short, if you're a dosa lover like me, you owe it to yourself to try this place out. Be prepared for a truly unforgettable culinary experience that will leave you...
