We've tried most Mediterranean places in the Falls in search of a good falafel. We have not found oneāuntil Big Moe's. Perfectly cooked and spiced, with a crunchy outside and soft inside, this is far and away the best falafel in the city and it isn't even close. Most others are overcooked and under-flavoured, hard and disappointing. Can't say what a relief it is to try Moe's excellently prepared falafel.
My wife has asked if I will write about anything except the falafel. I will do so now. The salad was good and varied in its ingredients; the hummus was creamy; the chickpea side was a pleasant surprise. And in terms of value for money: each of our portions were about two portions. We tried the donair as well and were not disappointed, though we're not big into meat and the last time I had donair was while drunk in Halifax a decade ago, so I don't have much point of comparison.
Two small critiques: I found the rice a little dry for my tastes, and the pita is store-bought. (Not unusual but still disappointing.) But the overall experience and value was tremendous. A welcome addition to Niagara Falls. We'll miss Gary and Nyce N Spicee in that location, but we couldn't be happier with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been craving for shawarma for long time. And this is truly the best shawarma I have ever had recently. (especially compared to the Osmows in the tourist area) Obviously thisās a local new startup small shop, the interior design is new and clean as well. The menu is clear and focused - shawarma and shawarma platters.
Beef and chicken both are super juicy and tender, sauces are so incredible! I had a quick bites first and finished too quick to take photos.( I usually do) I usually be aware of beef since itās hardly to get it done right, but this one is the most tendered I got! Their wraps come from a package but at least they are the super soft kind! (white flour possibly) The large is 12ā and the regular is 10ā I guess. The chef was making it in front of us - proficient, generous, deliberate.
The only one thing the shop owner should consider is that the echoing indoor with lousy ventilation would make the orders not smooth and clear.
Overall, I right away credit this store for 5 stars without a doubt. And I definitely will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I feel semi-bad leaving a three star rating because the food was quite tasty but I do have my reasons. Firstly the chicken shawarma was fantastic and the donair sauce is wonderful. A variety of toppings too is great to have. My two problems warranting the rating are as follows. The priceā¦.i live in Toronto and spend a lot of time in other cities around ontario and the Montreal area and never have I ever paid 15 bucks for a shawarma. I was shocked seeing the price and honestly the sandwiches arenāt that big and the plates donāt have a ton of meat. Like my go to places in Toronto, Windsor and Montreal are less than 10 bucks a sandwich so this is 50% more! As I mentioned before the actual chicken shawarma meat was fantastic, a nice char and smokiness to it, but the beef shawarma meat was donair meat. I found this odd as well too. More the flattened strips of meat than shawarma meat chunks. While still good, if I wanted donair meat I would have ordered donair meat. In any case, Good tasting food one way...
