Oohhhhhh man! This team is good! My 10yr old son & I went in together (he was feeling brave)
But this is not suited for the faint of heart. I'd say 13yrs and up (but even then, lol) You are to follow the red lights until you reach the end.
The safe word is "Nightmare" There is 1 point where they take a picture of ur reaction to a big scare. $8 Photo (worth it)
Nice gift shop with custom apparel & unique items. Customer Service from the ticket person to the photo person & to the scarer, were top notch.
For those who I read complaining about being over stimulated, you brought yourself to this place and asked for a scare, either way (not their fault) I do agree that it could've been a bit brighter, but when u r left in the dark, it helps your imagination run wild. Stop being over critical and have fun (you came to get scared or you came to feed your ego) Concentrating on how much u spent (while walking it) takes away from how much you could have experienced. Also, it may depend on the staff/guest ratio. Sometimes its too hard to please everyone.
Here's how it went for us... 1st halls = 10% visibility 2nd hall & on = ZERO VISIBILITY (a few spots) There were a lot of turns There were changes in levels (up & down) There were changes in ground type All while having that feeling & vague image of someone coming from behind & waiting up ahead.
I kept asking my son if he was ok (I won't lie, i was sweating too) But in hearing us talk, they used my son's name as a way to scare us more. It was being whispered here and there.
We got to a crawl space (Large rectangle) that lead to a room where we stand up normal again. Except they close the door behind u & there is no where to go. You search to find a way and notice there is something above you. Its 2 coffins, that fall down towards you (but obviously stop)
Door opens up to more zero visibility halls. We tried for a bit but we ended up saying the safe word. We were latterly squatting the entire time with our backs against the wall. Lol We dont know what happens in the last 1/4 of it but definitely scared us...
Read moreI have such mixed feeling about this experience. I think either you are scared to death or you'll leave confused because it was not scary at all. Similar to how some people find found-footage horror films to be scary and some find them boring - this attraction hits a very specific scare button, and I think this is why there are so many polarizing reviews. Me and my wife was not scared at all. Not because we were brave, but because literally you don't see anything except little red dots. I didn't meet any actors or at least couldn't see any. I think I felt someone grab my ankle but that was about it. There are no music, and most of the experience was walking through the pitch black darkness while loud sounds go off. (One of the noises went off so loud next to my ear I couldn't hear for few seconds lol) For some people, this is probably a very scary experience. It is very different from other horror attractions, and innovative in some ways (I thought one of the claustrophobic trap was pretty smart), but in turn I think it will be a very hit and miss for people. If navigating through a pitch black maze sound scary, then it is probably for you. I personally think that if they had some build-up and mixed audio and visual elements it would've been a great middle ground for everyone. I know letting your imagination do the scaring is the best way to scare someone, but you need to give at least a bit of something to kickstart it! Then again, I don't run horror attractions for a living, so maybe I'm talking nonsense. I just know that I left a bit...
Read moreThis was an okay experience, but not really what I would call a must see attraction.
The actual haunted house consisted of following red lights through a series of pitch black corridors. Seriously. It was pitch black, as in we couldn't see anything besides the red lights.
Maybe some people will find that atmospheric, but the experience felt very barebones to me. There was some clever set pieces during the ten minute long tour though the haunted house, but only one or two of them were really well lit enough to leave an impression, the rest were just extremely loud noises in the dark.
If you are gonna visit, do so in a group because a duo or solo trip is probably just going to feel very isolating and empty.
I don't think I would do it again. I found navigating the pitch black space far too difficult and focus intensive to really appreciate the atmosphere or build any tension, and most of the scares relied exclusively on extremely loud (read painfully loud) noises and disorienting flashing lights rather than anything more affecting or subtle.
It is "scarier" than a haunted house attraction would usually be, but only because it has been stripped of everything but sensoraly overwhelming jumpscares. If you are in a group with a few willing screamers, you'll probably have fun feeding off one another's energy, but the actual pitch black walk itself leaves something...
