Sunnyside Grill — Restaurant in Oakville

My husband and I were from out of town and were just strolling in the down town area when we decided to grab a bite here. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon and inside there was only two tables occupied, though one or two tables outside were occupied. We were told upon entering that because a party of 11 had just ordered, we would likely have a longer wait for our meal. We were told likely a 30-35 minute wait, which was a little longer than I would have liked, but because it looked like a family run business with few staff at that hour, we said that was ok as we were not in a huge rush were enjoying the day sight-seeing. Besides the party of 11 at one group of tables, there was only one other table with 2 people inside and it looked like they were finished their meal. Well the 30-35 minute wait was closer to an hour and while the servers were apologetic and tried to keep us occupied by offering more coffee while we waited, that wasn’t the worst of it. While we were seated, another older caucasian couple came and sat down a few tables from us and some how, magically, that couple was served their meal ahead of us. Hmmm. I thought if they were so busy with the party of 11 ppl, how did the newer couple manage to get their meal while my husband and I were still waiting for our combo breakfast and veggie omelet which seemed we had ordered before the other couple? Unless we missed something and the other couple ordered before we did (they may have been regulars as two of the staff were chatting with them at different times), it was very unprofessional. So for average tasting food and an uncomfortably long wait, I can’t say I’d recommend this place. First impressions are indeed lasting. We won’t be back when we visit the area again and will choose another...

We just had an absolutely horrible experience at this restaurant today.

The hours posted on the door say they are open every week day until 3pm except for Monday. Today is Friday.

My son and I went there for brunch and arrived at 2:22pm. We ordered our food by 2:30pm and received it at 2:45pm.

The sausage I received looked like it was first made at 6am this morning and then refried several times. The outer skin of the sausage was crunchy and tasted like charcoal and the inside of the sausage was very dry and tough. I sent it back and there was no issue. I received new sausage by 2:50pm.

Up until this point the service was great. But here is where it went quickly to a horrible experience.

My horrible experience was not due to our server, who had great customer service skills, but it was due to the much older, taller woman who worked there.. easily identied by her horns and firery eyes. I believe she is the owners' Mother. The young female owner is not at this location much anymore.

It was 3:03pm when the old woman was rude. She stood 10 feet away from our table and said, "We're closed now. I'll be locking the doors in 10 minutes. You need to leave before then."

She had only given me my food 10 minutes prior! She treated us like we were unwanted criminals.

So my review is, "if the old, egg N@z¡ woman is working do NOT eat here... she makes dining a horrible experience! NO EGGS FOR YOU!!"

For the overly high prices they charge (see attached pic), I expect reasonable customer service. That is not an unreasonable...

Honestly, the food and service were good. Everything would have been fine had I not gone to the restroom before leaving. Single toilet bathroom and I was not alone! On the wall, looking back at me was a ROACH! So… this is mid day…in the light…no food in bathroom that I was aware so I can only imagine what must be happening in that kitchen, especially at night! They say if you see one, there are millions! Left feeling sick and itchy!!! I won’t be back!

I imagine this is something that’s not foreign in the restaurant industry but this should be taken care of and under control, most definitely not somewhere visible to patrons! Gross.

EDIT so yesterday I looked up my review to see if the establishment had responded and noticed that ALL of their reviews were taken down. Today I checked again in case it was a glitch, all reviews are back, and conveniently, 3 more reviews added less than an hour apart from each other. I’d put money on these people being affiliated with the restaurant in someway, you see a review a week or every few months then, bam! 3 in a row.

I’m sorry but this goes against what Google reviews are all about and frankly, is totally dishonest to future patrons. You have a problem there, fix the problem and try relying on honest reviews instead of misleading your...
