This place gets so much right that it's impossible to list it all. We ordered an appetizer, two main dishes, and kimchi fried rice. Everything came with about a dozen small bowls of sides such as kimchi, sauteed string beans, crispy anchovies, and two different kinds of pickled radish, to name a few. The entire table was filled with small plates and endless flavour combinations to try. All hot meals are served in cast iron to keep them warm.
We weren't particularly hungry when arriving but the food blew us away. Pork belly was tender and crispy. Pork backbone soup was extremely rich with the most tender pork I've ever had. And I generally don't even like corn but ate every last kernel of the corn cheese. Portions are appropriately sized, and it's clear how much prep and care went into preparing everything.
The service is next-level. Calling in blindly to make reservations felt unusually warm, as if I was calling an old friend who was excited to see me. The owner remembered my wife from when she first tried the place a month ago. Mid-service in a full house, I fumbled my chopsticks onto the floor and had new ones brought to me within seconds. Every interaction while ordering was an absolute delight, with explanations of what every food is and recommended combinations to try. It honestly felt more as if we were in a Korean household during an elaborate holiday meal than in a Windsor restaurant.
10/10. We absolutely loved the experience and can't wait...
Read moreThey used to have better side dishes. I miss the anchovies and fish cake side dish. They also used to have a portable stove to keep your meat warm, but now it just comes on a kids playset sized skillet. They used to have the salt and pepper sesame oil for you to dip, but now it's just ssamjang or gochujang. They never give enough lettuce for you and it's awkward to ask for more. The barley tea portion is also small. The $25 pork belly +$2 rice isn't even enough to feed a child. The half and half chicken was $30 and it was a decent portion size and very crispy, but it was pretty dry inside. It definately needed more sauce. The sauce was good (mostly sweet and a lil spicy). It says reservations required but the place was...
Read moreIf you’re a fan of samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), you have to try this place! They bring the meat out already grilled to perfection, so you don’t have to worry about cooking it yourself. It’s tender, juicy, and full of flavor, and the side dishes (banchan) are just as delicious.
But don’t stop at BBQ! If you love spicy and cheesy flavors, definitely try the cheese dakgalbi (cheese chicken stir-fry) it’s cheesy, spicy, and absolutely mouthwatering. And of course, no visit is complete without some tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) for a sweet, spicy kick.
If you’re new to Korean food, this is the perfect spot to try it. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is really cozy. Highly...
