Went to the downtown market and decided to try this restaurant as I have never been before. It was busy but there were a few available and cleaned tables. The two of us were in line behind another couple and as we all stood there waiting to be seated the waitress walked by with no acknowledgment that customers were waiting to be seated, she did not even say that someone would be with us shortly. Well after standing there awhile longer waiting and still being ignored we finally decided to leave. I stopped to make a purchase with a market vendor and noticed as I walked by the restaurant again that the same couple ahead of us were still waiting to be seated. Luckily we found another restaurant close by who actually acknowledge customers.
Update to review. In response to feedback from restaurant in response to my rating. I do realize there is a please wait to be seated sign but as stated it only takes a second for the waitress to acknowledge guest as she is walking by. I understand that tables may be held for reservations and there may be a wait which I have no issue with but I was comparing my experience to other restaurants where while waiting we were told that someone would be with us shortly and even the amount of wait time we could expect and they also had a please wait to be seated sign. If customers are standing there waiting for a period of time it would be nice for some form of communication from staff. My rating star was based on customer service only as I did not eat there so I can't rate anything else about the...
Read moreCame here for breakfast and picked up the Dog's Pancakes with chocolate chips and home fries. The atmosphere was nice; calm jazz playing through the restaurant, and plenty of natural light due to the windows.
There was only one server working when we came, and while he was hustling, it was obvious that the layout of the restaurant was working against him - having to walk from the kitchen all the way to the front door to go to the patio seating made wait times longer than needed, in my opinion. Despite the wait, the staff seemed very friendly and welcoming.
However, the food itself tasted very bland. The pancakes themselves were not that sweet nor smooth and the home fries were unseasoned and rather tasteless, even with the addition of salt. In comparison to other diners around the city, such as Lux Diner or Michigan Diner which offer similar meals, the breakfast food here fell short.
As an aside (and maybe not that important), the boxes that they give you as well as the plates on which the food is served feels smaller than necessary, especially compared to the two diners listed earlier. Overall, an okay spot, but not one I would find myself...
Read moreCame with my family of 8. It was their first time in Windsor, and their first breakfast at Dog’s. Waited almost an hour for our food to come out. Only two servers — restaurant was unprepared for the weekend. The food took so long, as if there were one or two people in the kitchen. While we were waiting for our food, we ran out of water and our server hadn’t checked up on us in half an hour. Didn’t refill our water until we asked when our food finally came out. When our food came out, home fries and poutine were cold, bread was stale. My family member visiting had the wrong side order. My other family member couldn’t even eat her sandwich. And when it came time to pay, the server didn’t tell us there was an auto-gratuity of 18% added on to the bill already, so I tipped an extra 15% on top, which after the food and service, wasn’t really deserved. The bill for just 2 people alone came up to $70, which is way too much for the breakfast we got. I’m a server myself, and know that it is common courtesy to let a party know when there is gratuity added on the bill.
I never want...
