The waiter came back after I paid and asked why I did not tip!! I cannot believe I am editing an already poor review in the same evening I wrote the original. The waiter came over to my table with the receipt already printed and handed me a pen asking me what tip I wanted to give. The bill itself was not correct and the bottom tip reflected the incorrect bill. I told the waiter to correct it and bring me the machine to pay. I paid the bill and did not tip due to his slow service and rudeness to outright ask me what I wanted to tip. After paying and gathering my food to go he came back! He asked me why I did not tip and began to tell me how the financial division between himself and the other staff was hard on him. I have never in any place of the world experienced such a thing. The entire reason I wrote my original review this evening (see below) was because I have had this particular waiter a few times now and it’s clear he is not attentive with his work. I have watched him standing at the bar while myself and my party wait an unnecessary amount of time just to receive water. After being seated. It was his continued poor service that led me to finally making a review only for him to end his service with such unprofessionalism. I have hosted parties of over 10+ at this restaurant and have been eating here with my family weekly/bi-weekly for the last 6 months. We have kept patient with the extremely slow service in hopes it would be fixed over time because we absolutely love the food and we’ve always tipped/recommended the place to show our upmost support. We will not be returning.
Original review made mid-dinner: I absolutely love the food and find myself eating here once, sometimes twice a week because of how great the food is. The reason for my low rating is because the service is very slow. It doesn’t matter if the entire place is packed or it’s just myself and a few other tables dining for lunch, it takes far too long to recieve food and even initial drinks. Even from the time you’re seated to the time your waiter comes to offer water, it’s sometimes over 15 minutes. I’m hoping the service will improve as I love the food and don’t mind the drive into...
Read moreI really admired the decor of this restaurant. Paired with the skyline views, it was very impressive. However, unfortunately that is the only good part of this restaurant.
I made a dinner reservation and the hostess had us waiting 25 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. I asked her if they overbooked and she blatantly let us know they were prioritizing walk-ins due to the film festival going on. When we sat down, they only gave us 3 menus for our party of 6. Water only came out for 2 people and when we asked for water for everyone at the table, they kept only bringing out one at a time - we eventually gave up asking and some of us didn't receive water. Those who did never got offered a refill.
The meat entrees no longer come with rice, just a small plate with an even smaller side. Absolutely not worth the price. I am almost certain that they changed the chicken karaage to frozen chicken tenders. It certainly tasted like it. The steak, which was asked to be cooked medium-well, was very tough and cooked more like rare. The chicken in the general Tao was mostly bread with a hollow centre. Sushi was served without soy sauce, which is strange considering they gave me a dish for it.
The music was also so loud I couldn't hear the person across from me.
With the way this place is set up so nicely and their menu prices, you'd expect much, much more.
Poor experience. Overall not enjoyable. Will not be returning and would not recommend unless you want to see the Detroit...
Read moreRepublik- The worst dining experience
This is not an exaggeration when I describe the most terrible dining experience I’ve ever had. I ordered the following: Chicken Tom Yum soup- served cold Beef fried dumplings - terrible, looked cooked from frozen Golden coconut shrimp- definitely cooked from frozen Alaska roll - bland, cheap soy sauce and ginger. Salt and pepper crunchy shrimp with crispy noodles - worst entree dish. The breaded shrimp is from Costco, laid on a bed of white foam dried decoration.
We had one round of drinks because they only came by our table to drop off food and pick up plates. The male server identified the white foam noodles in the entree as decorative when I asked him where the crispy noodles were. Afterwards the female manager approached us and explained that those were in fact the noodles listed on the menu and I replied that If I had known that the entree did not come with a side dish, I would have ordered a side of rice or noodles but the expectation from the menu was crispy noodles with Tom yum soup.
The female manager explained that they will have a new menu coming and asked us to come back to which I replied that I will not be returning to try it but will wait for reviews from future patrons.
The charged over $100 for this meal. I do not recommend! The decoration and view is not worth the experience.
Painfully...
