This place is amazing! I went with my non vegan but open minded mom on a Friday for lunch. The place is huge and we were a bit confused at first with how the menu worked and one of the ladies working there noticed, so she explained how everything works and what the hot dishes were that day. Then we stared at the options some more, not knowing what to choose so she offered some samples of each dish. It all tastes great so we still couldn’t decide. Then she offered to make a plate with a bit of everything, so my mom got that and I got a “chicken” shawarma plate with coleslaw and rice. The food was so delicious and fairly priced too considering the portion sizes. My mom isn’t the biggest fan of mock meats but she was blown away by the 2 mock meat dishes. They also had 3 dishes without mock meats and they were just as flavourful.
The restaurant itself is also very clean and tidy, and has a nice homey feel to it. They were selling vegan cheese and other packaged vegan items that I can’t find anywhere in Durham. Also, if you need something quick to go, they have premade wraps and other dishes in the cooler sections.
Then on our way out we picked up a pre made vegan Thanksgiving dinner to bring to our non vegan family’s celebration (which made my mom very happy because now she didn’t have to worry about what I’d eat and we wouldn’t have to make sure there were enough vegan friendly dishes for me). I have yet to eat the dinner but I’ve had a few bites of the stuffing and potatoes and they’re just as good as what we had for lunch.
Overall an awesome place for Durham to have! I can’t wait to come back...

Mathilda has a very large variety of dishes that she rotates through regularly. The menu slowly shifts from day to day. There is something here for every palette: some dishes are hot, others spicy, others sweet, others sour. The variety in the menu means that I can find at least one dish that I like on any given day (usually more than one dish). She goes light on the "fake meats" (beyond, impossible, etc) but she has many dishes with shiitake and soy curls for people who are looking for a meat-like texture with their dish.
She also does specials on a regular basis. For instance; cauliflower buffalo "chicken" wings, and lasagna. My wife is not Vegan and she is Italian and she loves this one.
My personal favourites? Buffalo "Chickun" wraps and the Cinnamon rolls. Also... Vegan Mac & Cheese. She offers this every day so if I decide I'm "not feeling" the menu items on a given day I can always fall back to Mac & Cheese. It's extremely close to the non-vegan variety you may be used to.
Finally, she stocks many Vegan grocery items that can be hard to find at the national grocery chains I frequent: Vegan Cheese, sour creme, milks, egg substitute, miso to...
