Well the people saying the restaurant is "bland" must have ordered the steamed rice. They've made their chicken friend rice with egg for years... There is plenty of flavour. hint you can order your "flavourless" meal with NO MSG if you like it... extra bland. It doesn't get better then Peking House. We used to order around to different places, until someone got lost delivering to Pilot Butte and an hour and 1/2 later they were at the front door licking the bottom of the greasy chinese takeout bag. The owners and their staff treat you like family, everything is fresh, they're accommodating and dont just serve you plain chicken instead of lemon chicken because they're out of lemon and dont bother telling you like Tea Tree does. The place is clean.

Other pros: instead of being open and not be busy and serving stale broccoli, they close for a few hours after lunch and open again for supper.

Cons: -a little pricier but you get what you pay for yo. If you want cheap plain no lemon lemon chicken, cheap out all day long. Only top notch for this guy -they close for an entire month in the summer, but they do it to be with their family so... -they have a smaller space then most, so for holidays it's best to get...

Zero stars for food presentation and customer service (can't speak to quality as I threw it out). Ordered dinner for one, picked up and went back to work. Opened package only to find that the chicken balls and spring roll were smothered in a sauce, on top of the rice and chicken. The balls and roll were totally saturated/soggy from the sauce and being enclosed in a box with steaming food. The entire thing looked totally unpalatable. Called and spoke with the gal who took my order (wasn't asking for a refund but just wanted them to be aware and maybe change practices). She listened attentively and remarked when I was done, "all combos are served in one box and if you don't like our packaging you can take your business elsewhere." I didn't need to hear anymore; her tone and words said it all so I immediately ended the call. It's bad enough that you've sold me food that's gross; that you're going to be disrespectful as well is a bit much and I won't tolerate it. I won't ever spend my money here again and I recommend you do the same unless you want crappy food and...

I have been here on occasion during lunch with coworkers.

Usually ordering the combination lunches to get a feeling of their food. I don't typically order traditional Chinese food for lunch meals.

I am very hard on Chinese restaurants reviews because I grew up in a Chinese restaurant and know what I like and do not like. Especially since I am trying to seek out that place that makes me remember my past in taste. Which obviously has been hard to find.

Not much has changed from the last time, some foods are saucier than others, really catering to the non-chinese taste buds.

Do not get me wrong. The food is ok but for me, but others will enjoy it.

I am just looking for something that I can't seem to find in Chinese restaurants with their flavours of their dishes. This is why my review is a bit harsh.

This place has been in business for 40 years. I do remember coming here with my dad when I was much younger and we were not impressed with their traditional Chinese food at that time, and never came back whenever we were in town for supplies or appointments. ...

Ordered the peking duck 2 days in advance...so worth it!! We ordered the peking duck 2 ways, first dish was the skin cut off of the duck and then served with rice pancakes, green onions, and sauce...delish. The second dish was the duck chopped with some mushrooms and sauce served with lettuce to wrap your own little parcels of deliciousness. Also ordered the ginger beef (excellent), shrimp fried rice (kind of boring, was missing some flavours), vegetable chow mein (delish), and another chicken dish...can't remember as I wasn't the one placing the order for it. But the chicken dish also tasted good. Overall awesome experience. Would come back again for Peking duck ...and of course for the other dishes as well. Thanks for the great service as well!

This is a restaurant specialising in Beijing cuisine that I thoroughly enjoyed. When our family came to eat, the staff was attentive, dedicated, and carefully guided about the food. They didn't leave us alone especially considering the fact that there were only two of us and one guest table on that Monday. When it comes to food, the food here is outstanding for my family because the dishes we ordered were neither too salty nor too sweet. Also, the fish maw and crab soup, yang chou fried rice, and bbq duck are all excellent.

Was visiting from Vancouver and came here for dinner. The dinner for 2 option is a huge portion. You get a spring roll and wonton soup to start. The sweet and sour pork seems made in house and is tasty. All the food was excellent and the staff were attentive, polite and efficient. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good meal that is affordable.
