Spacious, open concept seating with decent lighting for the night. An afternoon visit would likely be great, with the all the windows. Music is light, upbeat, and, most importantly, quiet enough that I can still hold a conversation with the table. The playlist while we were there was '95-'00's hits like Blues Traveler and Uncle Kracker. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Small parking lot patrons can use without extra cost which is something I don't think any other downtown pub can say aside from the ones in hotels. The "Not Short, Just Stout" had a strange after-taste that I don't find in other brands' stouts. I don't know how to describe it but I stopped noticing it after half a glass when I already had the taste of it in my mouth. I'll try it again some day and update my review when I can come up with some more constructive criticism. I tried my partner's sour as well which tasted fine but smelled foul. They seemed to like it but it's not something I'd order. Prices are a little higher than the competition but not unreasonably so.
All in all, not great but not terrible. High Key isn't a place that I would frequent, but I wouldn't turn it down if a friend...
Read moreSuper cool space. They were closed, as it was a holiday, but when they saw us at the door, they opened for is and showed us around. They have many taps, about half of which are brewed on site; the others are allocated for top-quality micro-brew beers from around the Providence (Rebellion, crazy Farm, 9 Mile, Etc.) They do flights, pints, growler fills 1 liter Growler Fills, and also, strangely enough, 1 liter cans that are filled and capped to order. I Had an excellent white (but not really white) IPA and a stout that was as dark as coal-- both were great. Unfortunately, the location leaves much to be desired. It's kind of out of the way and, as much as I would love to hang out at the taphouse, it is not really close to anything else. I just don't think Saskatoon needs more bars that people bring their cars to and drive home drunk from. I understand that it is difficult to find reasonable rental spaces, for setting up an operation like this, near downtown or Broadway. I can't see myself justifying a cab ride as they close to early to make a night of it.That being said, I will still go there for Growler Fills and in the summer, I will, for sure, be riding my...
Read moreI ate here with a few others for the first time a little while ago. We ate inside even though it was a nice evening and there was a patio here and enjoyed our experience. The food and service was very good. I had the smash burger with fries and added bacon to it. The fries are what I chose for my side. One of the others I was with had the same thing but got different fries as there side ,when given the option of sides and chose it they werenât told it would be an extra change for those fries versus the regular fries I got. We found out when the bill came so be careful what you choose for sides if you are looking at prices but we were all happy with the food and would definitely...
