This is our experience with Ming's in the last 6 months, 2024. We eat Chinese food a lot. The favorite dish is chicken chop suey, the deep fried SHRIMP is good but sometimes it comes so greasy that there's enough grease in there to fry another batch of shrimp!
Which brings me to my first time ordering FISH & CHIPS. They were good and I was impressed. The second time ordering was not as good as the first, it was very greasy. Just like the shrimp!. The third time ordering the fish (oh my oh my), I wasn't sure whether they had fish in the batter or not. The fish was filleted in half! Very very thin! I called to complain and they gave me a credit for an order of fish and chips. After receiving the credit, I was disappointed again. Needless to say, we gave up on the fish. Just way way too greasy. Once again, with the extra grease that it holds I can fry another fish and chip order.
When we order Chinese food, with each order we will order an item that we have not had before. We ordered the CHOW MEIN which was okay.
We then tried their DRY RIBS, which cost $13 and we received 6-(approx 3 inches in length) side rib bones!! They were dry and overcooked and had no seasoning, absolutely horrible. (TRULY THIS IS A DISH SHOULD NOT BE ON THEIR MENU!) They were so tough to chew. I called to complain and the VERY PLEASANT POLITE girl said to me, "I'm sorry about that, maybe try something different next time" SAY WHAT! ? ! We also tried the sweet and sour ribs and we received 13-1 inch pieces (with only One real bone}, for $13!! We did not order for a while then we decided to try one more time, because I really like their CHOP SUEY. We decided to try CHICKEN FRIED RICE (fried rice is not our norm to order). As we are eating the rice it had uncooked rice mixed in with cooked rice and the CHICKEN WAS DRY, Not at all what I would have expected from such an easy dish to make! Once again I called to complain and she said "well I don't know, let me check. After she's gone for a while she comes back on the phone and she says well I don't know let me check with the cook". I told her " forget it! You do what you want, what you think is right". At that time it did not sound like she cared at all. I felt as though I was going to get the, maybe try something else next time. So I said, "I'm done. You do as you feel is right" I've had enough! We are done with ordering from MING'S, as it IS A HIT AND MISS. The worst thing about it is that THEY TRULY DON'T CARE!
I HAVE HEARD THE RUMOR AROUND THE CITY THAT PEOPLE SAY "I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'RE STILL IN BUSINESS" !...
Read moreFunny the line just asked me 'what I like about it?' There is literally NOTHING I can say to like about mings.....we were wanting to try something different(maybe a new Chinese food restaurant could provide that little something that had been missing in my flavorful life 😉), NOPE!!!!! ATTENTION TO ALL WHO MILDLY APPRECIATE FOOD......... This is NOT the place to try! My husband and I were ttying to switch things up a little.....thinking all Chinese food restaurants would be realitively the same......DON'T EVER THINK THAT!!!!!!! We ordered 50$ in food and it was ALL terrible, now you are probably thinking 'there's no way it ALL tasted terrible.....' sorry to burst your bubble folks but it was!!!! I called into the 'manager', he called himself, and was told that there was NOTHING that could he done! I immediately the next day (my order was a 1am order) went to the crap hole establishment they call a restaurant and the so called 'manager' told me that there was nothing that he could do. They have been in business for over 20yrs and food is ALWAYS great! WOW.......no flavor, no feeling, no commitment to the food......soggy, no flavor and no quality guarantee to follow...........
Finally after fighting with this so called 'manager' for about 30mins I was EVENTUALLY offered a 15% discount on all their crap food......then he asked me if I wanted the food back.......really truly honestly he asked me if I wanted the crap food back!!!!!!! Just because you have managed to coast by for 10yrs and at one time really had a name that meant something doesn't mean you have a leg to stand on today!!!!!!
Close up shop...
Read moreQuite disappointed in both the food and the service. $12 tray of "ginger beef" turned out to be a whole onion chopped up in huge chunks covering a few small, thin squares of meat (We were later told that there were supposed to be "15 pieces" as they count them out before tossing them in the bag??) Didn't taste a hint of ginger, just red, greasy, peppery sauce. The shrimp chow mein was disgusting. The noodles were covered in a glue-like substance - with about 7 little bitty nibbles of baby shrimp (maybe 2-2.5 baby shrimp in total). Our fish eat more shrimp than that! And don't even get my husband started on the "lemon" chicken...which is just sweet & sour chicken...except mushy with a creamy orange sauce. We called Ming's to get it sorted out, as neither meat dishes were decent enough to eat - 7 fish-sized mouthfuls of shrimp is hardly enough protein for a family. The employee on the other end was quite rude, cutting me off multiple times as I tried to explain what the issue was, because he kept trying to guess what our problem was! Genesis & Saigon will be getting our business from now on. They are fantastic, never fail, and we don't have to go broke in order to eat 2 grams of protein...
