With great Google reviews and my son a ramen lover, we were excited to try Puffsey. We arrived about 7:30 pm on a Friday night, an hour before closing. We only wanted ramen, but most of the types weren't available. We ordered one to share. There was only one guy working, but how long can it take to make ramen. We were the only ones there and waited and waited. I don't know what they do if there is even two tables of 2.
They brought utensils, but only one wooden spoon and proper chopsticks. I got a disposable spoon and super cheap break-apart chopsticks. I guess it was an hour before closing, but what would they do if three tables of 4 came in?
While waiting, I had ample time to look around. It was dusty on all window ledges and shelves, like it was a construction site, with very visible dustless circle on a shelf where a vase had been removed. There were dirty work gloves on the shelf next to glassware, and boxes partly opened next to it on a dirty floor. It seemed less like restocking a clean restaurant and more like renovations.
When the ramen arrived, it was incredibly ordinary. There were a couple slices of hard boiled egg, a couple slices of meat, and a couple other things. The broth tasted slightly of fish but was wholly unremarkable. The noodles were nothing to savor or rave about. My son said instant ramen at home was better. He was sorry he insisted on going.
For about $18, one medium sized bowl of nondescript ramen that took 20 mins to make... definitely will not be returning. Very disappointing.

Read moreI have been to Puffsey Japanese Restaurant twice, and I have had a great experience both times! I loved going there with my friends and trying out all their freshly made food. All meals and drinks are made upon order. All desserts are made in limited amounts on a daily basis so that the restaurant doesn't have to throw them away. Every food, drink, snack, and dessert items I have tried there has been fresh and flavorful. The aesthetics of the restaurant is really nice too. They are a bit understaffed, but you can tell it's a new business, and they are trying their best. It's an underrated restaurant that deserves more praise. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants warm comfort food in a...
Read morePoke bowl with smoked salmon and shrimp doesn’t have shrimp as advertised. I asked why and he said “people didn’t like the shrimp”. I said their menu should be changed since that’s the reason I ordered it. He took a sharpie to the menu on display that moment. 😳.
A customer leaving wanted ginger for his takeout… out of ginger, the guy behind the counter said. Poke bowl had no seasoning I could discern. Reviews were misleading. Meh. The guy must have realized that the poke bowl wrongly advertised should also be cheaper, so he gave me $2...
