What happened? I attended University of Saskatchewan in the early 90s and one of the go-to places for great asian food was "The Saigon". Business brought me to Saskatoon recently and I decided to visit this once great restaurant. I ordered the Saigon bread rolls (which i remembered as being delicious), spring rolls, and the curried chicken, and a pot of tea. After what seemed to be a long wait, the food arrived. The spring rolls were relatively good although slightly overdone. Then i started on the "curry chicken" which was more of a soup than anything. The chicken was dry and sparse and the broth flavorless. In retrospect, I wonder is she misheard me because when she dropped it off at the table she said "here is your soup".Needless to say I did not eat it. I then started on the bread rolls which appeared to be burned in rancid cooking oil. They were inedible. At this point i requested a take out container and my bill. After leaving, I immediately disposed of it a in garbage can just outside of the restaurant. The server also completely forgot my tea.
In summary, this place has become disgusting! Save your money and time and explore the many other...
Read moreThe old owner is back and it is better than ever. The restuarant is so clean and the food is so delicious. I order the Vietnamese rolls on vermicelli once a week. The little old lady (The owner) is such a sweetheart. I was in 2 weeks ago with my 2 year old son and I had ordered a meal I thought he would eat also. After my meal came I tried to order my son a rice dish, the lovely owner stated that was too much for him and that she had made her 2 grandkids who were at the restaurant some rice and that she'd get me a bowl for my son too. Well not only did she bring out a delicious dish for him, but she proceeded to pull up a chair and offer to feed him too, so that I could enjoy my meal while it was still warm!!!!! That's service if I ever had it. She treated me like I was the only customer in there. She never charged me for his meal or her service ;) Since then we are back every week. My son and I can both...

I have such fantastic memories of this place, and I miss being able to eat here frequently. This restaurant changed my life, and I can't think of any other for which...
