I love the simplicity of St Tropez - it’s traditional, with good wooden furniture, white-linen tablecloths, and simple, clean brickwork and walls with thoughtful touches. It’s clean, comfortable, and the sound volume of everything is perfect for intimate conversation and some laughs.
We had the family-style four course set meal tonight, and it had to be one of the finest offerings in town. The food and ambience is European-style, but the portions are decently sizeable. I pride myself on a good appetite, but I felt a small waddle coming on as we left.
The mushroom tart, the spinach balls, the lamb chop, the roasted veg, everything was delicious. The cocktails were beautifully mixed, aromatic, and served icy-cold. I loved the greens, the herbs, the flowers, and the vegetables that came from their rooftop garden! It’s served with two different desserts, and the honey and lavender posset is a standout. The texture is angelic, and it’s bursting with cream and honey with a fragrance of lavender. You’ll love it.
The service was wonderful. We were served by one of the owners, as well as a host who clearly enjoyed her work, and the entire vibe was friendly and hospitable with obvious pride in their product and service.
It’s not the average person’s weekday supper, but it’s the perfect place to have a chic dinner with absolutely zero pretension and 100% amazing flavours...
Read moreFirst visit at St. Tropez Bistro and it was a hit! For appetizers, the buns had a slight sweet taste to them and were accompanied by lemon and garlic butter. The spinach balls had such a unique flavour, they were served with dill and oil that not only looked so wonderful, it complimented the spinach balls perfectly! I'm not usually one for mushrooms but with that being said, the mushroom tartlets tasted great and they were served with a balsamic glaze. For entrees, the bison ribs (meat fell right off the bone) were served with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. The gnocchi had chopped almonds which gave it a nice crunch! For dessert, lavender honey lemon posset, pave de chocolat and homemade ice cream! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! If I had to pick something from each course though, I would give it to the spinach balls, gnocchi and pave! I joked with the server that I wish I could have a bag of those spinach balls and eat them like chips! The server was very friendly and efficient, always coming by to refill drinks. The food was served in a timely manner but by no means rushed! Ambience was very nice too! I didn't know until yesterday that St. Tropez Bistro and Parlour are owned by the same person and operate with the same kitchen! Would absolutely reccomend and...
Read moreWhat an excellent dining experience! The service was great-- allbeit a little robotic if that makes sense. There were very few people around which took away from the ambiance. The food was delicious, but not as highly elavated as one would expect. For an appy, we got the carpaccio, which was great. The bread could have been fresher and needed more agressive seasoning, but overall was great. We had the duck (was recommended to us) and the gnocci which was lovely! The duck was perfectly cooked and featured lovely fall root vegetables. The gnocci was great as well, however was sort of...one note. For dessert we had the creme caramel, which was fantastic! It would have been even better if it had some crunch or other form of texture, but the flavour was great! My only complaint was that our red wines were chilled and not in the cleanest glasses which made it hard to enjoy. Overall, a...
