Mariner Pizza — Restaurant in Sidney

New to the area. Friday night pizza because cooking on Friday night just doesn’t feel right. Great reviews here so I ordered pick up. The old standby...pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers and extra cheese. Not a fan! Did they accidentally put bologna instead of pepperoni? And what’s with the sweetness in the sauce? If this is their thin crust (thick by most standards) I can’t imagine their “normal “. Even adding chilli peppers and hot oil from my favourite pizza spot in Florida and salt and pepper.....not a fix. So I ate it anyway because I was hungry. The glass (or 2 ish) of red is the highlight. I should also mention that when I ordered the guy said it’s a better deal to do the 2 for 1. So I ordered 2 small instead of one medium. $28 seemed pretty pricey to me. Positive-cute little hole in the wall.

I think I’ll stick to MOD Pizza in Langford! AMAZING every time...

This is excellent pizza. I usually order thin crust when I get pizza, but went with the regular based on some reviews that I read, and was not disappointed. Crust was perfect, not too doughy, a bit crispy with lots of flavor, a great base for the toppings. The ratios of toppings, sauce and crust are bang on too, sauce is nice with a hint of sweet, and the toppings and cheese were flavorful but not overwhelming.

I was pleased with the variety of offered pizzas (actually I agonized for longer than I should have over what to order), I especially loved the Jay's special and the Steamer, but every pizza we ordered was excellent.

Staff were really friendly, and prices were very reasonable - I would go out of my way to get pizza from Mariner again, and even consider GASP driving all the way from Duncan since we have nothing like this up island...

So you are charged $30 for 2 pizza's and their website says free delivery, and there is no mention of a distance max. But one would assume that 10min / 10km (btw exact distance) is an appropriate max distance that you could order for delivery. HOWEVER.... thats not the case. Mariner Pizza will not deliver more than 5km away from their store. DON'T ORDER THERE unless you want to get shitty service only to be disappointed by getting a phone call 10min later with them telling you they cant deliver because its TOO far. Maybe next time you will list the max distance you will deliver to before disappointing another potential customer..... Then again, maybe they will read this and order from Peninsula Pizza who actually quote their...
