DO NOT come to this place for its summer membership, which is about 400 dollars a month. Run. I grew up playing tennis at various clubs (in Beijing, LA, and Toronto), and I can confidently say: this place is not it. After being repeatedly mistreated and disappointed, I feel a responsibility to warn others.
Here’s why: They intentionally avoid disclosing the limitations of a summer membership on their website. Their promotion claiming that you can “gain access to all that a 10XTO Membership has to offer” is misleading. In reality, summer members are quietly marginalized and systematically neglected. I reached out to four different tennis and squash coaches/directors requesting private lessons. My emails and messages were ignored for more than six days — repeatedly. I tried to schedule a squash lesson for an entire month and never even got a single session. In the few cases where someone did respond and schedule a lesson (usually after I follow up for multiple times), it was likely to be canceled last minute, often the day before.
It’s frustrating enough not being able to book lessons, but being repeatedly ghosted and cancelled on at the last minute is worse. It genuinely affected my mental well-being. I felt anxious and disrespected, unsure if anyone would ever follow through. When a place takes your money but leaves you in silence, it doesn’t just waste your time but also wears you down. The bare minimum should be clear communication. Instead, you’re left chasing replies and wasting your time and energy.
Also, this ghosting and last-minute canceling is not random. It’s systemic. If one coach acted this way, it might be a misunderstanding or personal issue. But when all four coaches/directors do the same thing to a summer member at the same time, it is clearly not a coincidence. It strongly suggests a systemic problem rooted in how the club treats summer memberships. When I called to cancel the membership and told them my concerns, they brushed it off as accidental (they said the club is busy, lots of players, etc). However, that kind of excuse only highlights how unwilling they are to take responsibility and how unlikely to make changes.
I would understand if full members are prioritized — but that should be made explicit during registration, not hidden behind vague marketing. Instead, the club appears to quietly sideline summer members, hoping we simply give up or don’t push back.
Lastly, they may treat full members differently, but that raises a deeper concern: do they genuinely respect you as a person, or simply see you as a walking credit card? From my experience, it felt like the latter. It made me ask myself, is this really the kind of community I want to belong to?
P.S. I’ve seen the club’s response. I appreciate the polite wording, but it doesn’t reflect the reality I experienced.
I never asked for 3–5 private lessons per week. I don’t even have time for that. I’m not sure why the club manager mentioned that in his response, but it’s simply false. At most, I was trying to book one private lesson per week, and even that was constantly ignored or canceled. Misrepresenting lesson requests publicly feels unprofessional.
I did have three private tennis lessons during my time at the club — but only after multiple follow-ups and delays. I had to push for days just to get a response each time. It was exhausting, frustrating, and frankly, humiliating to be treated this way after paying for a membership.
As for the squash lesson I never got. I spent a month trying to schedule just one single session, and it was canceled the day before. But right after I requested to cancel my membership, the squash director suddenly had availability at the exact same time. That timing speaks for itself. Is this performative customer service or were my requests simply never taken seriously to begin with?
The response fails to acknowledge my experience of being repeatedly ghosted when trying to book lessons — which was the core issue all along. Ghosting did happen to me; do not try...
Read moreIt was an unprofessional experience from the very beginning. When my group of friends first contacted the membership sales email, we didn't get any response for weeks. Eventually, we got a hold of the right person, and to be fair, the phone conversations and the site visit went well. Facilities looked great and the person bringing us around answered all the questions.
Then despite us setting a date a week in advance, we find out that the person in charge was away on vacation the day we were ready to go in to the club to sign the contract. About the contract, it was a whole other story that another review describes in full. Long story short, we were offered a group discount but when some members found out they complained and the club decided not to honor the contracts that had already been signed.
We then got emails welcoming us to schedule orientation sessions, which we were really impressed by. But then when we tried to schedule the sessions it turned out to be another sham. One of us has been waiting weeks for the fitness orientation. My requests personally have been turned down because "it's too early". Why send the emails asking for my week's availability then?
Next up, they send me a bill for some fees that 1) I had already paid for up front, and 2) I didn't have to pay anyways because I hadn't yet started at the club. Not to mention they used an UNLICENSED version of ActiveReports and sent me a bill with the watermark on it.
It's a club with great facilities for sure. I just really don't understand how a club that is obviously aiming to be at the top of the field is happy with giving prospective members such dismal service.
TLDR: If you're looking to spend thousands of dollars on a club that panders to it's loudest complaints, provides thoroughly unprofessional service and is ok with revoking any perks they offer you in writing, then 10X is the...
Read moreI joined 10XTO around six months ago with the goal of diving into the world of tennis, and I can confidently say it's been one of the best decisions I've made. I took a leap of faith, joining on my own without knowing any past or current members - here I am a half year later, having met a ton of friends and feeling fully integrated and part of a great community. Here are a few things I feel make 10XTO so special:
The facilities: Everything from the tennis and squash courts, gym equipment, and locker room are all very well maintained. The tennis courts on the upper level are especially gorgeous, overlooking the lake and BMO field. Whenever I bring guests, they're completely blown away by the facilities. The staff also does a fantastic job at keeping the club extremely clean and stocked with everything you need.
The classes/programs: While I mostly partake in the tennis related programs, there are a variety of different fitness classes offered daily. The tennis staff does a great job organizing weekly tennis socials, running the tennis ladder, and hosting tournaments. These have all been a great way for me to easily meet like-minded people and other members to play with.
The staff: The entire team at 10XTO deserves a shoutout. From the moment you walk in, all of the front desk staff are incredibly friendly and happy to help out with whatever you need. Eddy, Jade, and the entire tennis team have all been super encouraging as I've gotten into the sport. It's evident that Jordan and the management team have cultivated something truly exceptional here, prioritizing top-notch service and creating an environment where members feel valued and supported.
I'm incredibly grateful to the entire team at 10XTO for making my experience here unforgettable, and look forward to continuing this journey with this...
