WHAT TO TRY?
Baby squid dishes, the fried chicken wings and the khana crispy pork belly.
I always have a great time eating at BKK. This restaurant is one of many of their restaurants that opened in Toronto and each have their own unique dishes. The flavours are also very tasty in each dish.
I especially liked the baby squid dishes - one being not a lot of Thai restaurants in downtown offered this kind of dish, and two I just love squid. And the smaller the squid, the more flavourful they are.
The fried chicken wings are also worth ordering because they are marinated with larb, a marination that some Thai dishes have. But you can't find this kind of chicken wings outside of Thai restaurants. Wings were freshly fried and crispy. Not too salty and wings were juicy.
Khana crispy pork belly was also another winner for me. Pork melted in my mouth because it had the right layers of pork and fat in the meat. The best part is the dish is served with Chinese green vegetable guy lan. Good balance of meat and vegetable in the dish.
LAST TIP??

Read moreEat BKK recently opened a new restaurant on Queen West, so my friend and I went to check it out. It's a cute restaurant with casual atmosphere. The staff was friendly with their greetings. We ordered Thai iced tea, wontons, shrimp tom yum soup, Kana Moo krob (Chinese broccoli with crispy pork), grilled baby squid, and mango sticky rice for dessert. It may seemed like a lot of dishes, but the thing is, those dishes were on the smaller size. So if you are hungry like my friend and I, don't feel bad about ordering a bit more dishes to share and enjoy. Each dish was tasty and good. My favourite was kana moo krob. The chinese broccoli was fresh and not over cooked, and the pork was amazing with its crispy skin and juicy meat. Although it's on a pricier side of $15, I would get it again because it's that good!! Am glad Thai street food is represented here in Toronto. Now I don't have to go far just to satisfy my Thai street...
Read moreThis is right on the corner of Bathurst and Queen. It's a small shop, but has enough room. We didn't need to wait on a Thursday evening.
We tried a variety of dishes. For some reason, many of the dishes had squid in it. I'm not sure why. The squid dishes were okay, but not that remarkable. The pad Thai was nice and flavourful. The chicken satay was amazing though with a savoury satay sauce and super tender chicken. The star however was the kanom jeen or the noodle with chicken in green curry was so good! The curry chicken was just so rich in lemongrass flavour. Even though I normally can't eat spicy, it was just so good, and I loved it a lot. As a note, the deep fried chicken and the wontons were typical and not remarkable, and not quite worth ordering. Try the more classic Thai dishes instead.
Overall, I'd recommend coming here, especially to get the...
