Atmosphere A+. Food A+. Service A+++. Found this place on Google Maps--as we're not from Toronto--and decided to give it a try. Amazing. We want to give a huge shout out to Alicia (sp?), our incredible server (truly talented and in her element... you remember service this good), but the great and pleasant service went well beyond just our server, including bar staff and kitchen staff. The location is in an old stonewalled basement and doesn't look like much from the street, but it is beautifully quaint inside with multiple fireplaces, intimate lighting, and two bars for those busier nights. Want to play pool while you wait for your food? $0.25 / minute, charged by the minute so you're not committed when the food does arrive. And speaking of food, I chose the Beef Ribs which take a little longer (25 minutes) but are more than worth the wait. So moist, tender, and delicious. My wife had Jambalaya, which she absolutely loved. Finally, the beer list is extensive with multiple offerings in every category (Ales, IPA's, Wheats, Sours, etc.), and they'll bring you a "splash" sampling, if you're not quite sure. They also offer take-out beer, if you're staying in a nearby hotel and are looking for a few cans to take back to your room. Overall, an amazing experience and sure to become a regular dining location every time we're in town.

C’est What? is one of my favorite spots to unwind after work. In my humble opinion, it’s more than just a pub, it’s a full-on gastro-pub experience with an impressive food menu and selection of Ontario and Canadian craft beers that beer lovers will definitely appreciate. The vibe is super chill and relaxed, with pool tables, board games, and live music on some nights that really elevate the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can actually have a conversation or just kick back and enjoy the evening. I came here with my coworkers for after-work drinks and had the beef ribs, which were a massive portion and absolutely delicious. One of my colleagues had the bison burger and gave it amazing reviews. Whether you're hanging out with friends, family or grabbing a pint with coworkers, C’est What? is the kind of local spot that keeps you coming back. Highly recommend checking it out!

I recently attended a team Christmas party at C’est What in Toronto and had an amazing experience. The appetizers, including potato and vegetable fritters and nachos with salsa dip, were delicious and perfect for sharing. The highlight of my meal was the lamb burger, which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the venue was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a group gathering. We had a private space reserved, which added a nice touch of exclusivity to the event. The service was quick and efficient, and our server was incredibly friendly, ensuring that everyone was well taken care of throughout the evening. C’est What offers a great combination of good food, a cozy atmosphere, and attentive service. It’s a fantastic place for casual dining or hosting a special occasion. Highly recommended for a memorable experience in downtown Toronto!

No stars bc of host! 4 of us walked in on evening of June 23, 2023, host immediately tried to deny us table by saying g she doesn't know when she can seat us (hubby looked around, there were plenty of tables btw) she asks if we wanted to be seated at the bar and can let us know when a table opens up. We nicely ask how long might the wait might be she advises no idea, ok fair, so we repeated if we sit at the bar she will let us know when a table opens up she says "I can't seat you at the next available table if there will be people waiting for the table" we were all so confused, when that was the option she just provided to us, we asked multiple times which she really meant and it seems she will not give us a table, I even asked if a reservation was mandatory, and she obviously only gave us vague answers that walk-in was also ok. Waste of time, if only she was just honest and clear about what she really meant, I'm seriously still confused about this whole ordeal. We left and went to Duke's instead, better place and I'm so glad we did!! Go to Dukes, boycott Cest What (what that host only knows).

**REPLY TO THE BUSINESS' RESPONSE: except your host seemed confused and looked like they didn't want to accommodate us at all. We had no interest in how long we were going to sit in the bar only the guarantee we could get a table once something became available, simply asked only to see her intentions. You need...

Came in a group of five for 2pm on a Saturday, it wasn't very busy at all so the atmosphere and service was understandably low energy. Coffee wasn't a menu item, but I had asked if they had any to serve, since there was coffee included in the warm drinks. They said yes, and the coffee that was served looked suspiciously see through and tasted extremely sour and spoiled. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the coffee left in the pot from the night before. I couldn't finish it, and I regret not sending it back because it ended up being $4.

We started off with appetizers, which were good for the most part, shocking at worst when it came to the charcuterie plate. It looked really unappetizing, and really confusing. I wish I had taken a picture, honestly. For something called the C'estcuterie I'd have expected something like a full charcuterie with a specialty spin. There was only one cheese, blue cheese, a scoop of pickled vegetables, and it was served with slices of toast. There was only one option for meat, which tasted fine but probably wasn't prepared in-house. I was turned off from ordering any more menu items. My friends who had ordered main menu items said the food was fine. It may have just been a bad day and bad time for a pub, but from my experience I wouldn't ever want to chance ordering from here again. Left a bad taste in my mouth for the money...
