Chiba Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Toronto

The restaurant was less than half full at lunch time and pretty quiet but reasonably clean. The staff were polite and took our orders without fuss. They spoke Chinese which seems to be common for many Japanese restaurants in the GTA. I had the Monday special ramen noodle soup for lunch. After ordering our food we waited for close to 30 min. I asked the waiter where our food was and suddenly all our food came out. I wonder how long it was sitting there? Anyways, the ramen overall was not flavourful and the soup was salty. The noodles themselves were bland. The meat was sliced too thickly and a bit tough. The sushi was not bad. I would get ramen here but the sushi is decent. Disappointed that for a restaurant that was not busy our food took so long to come out.

Update: we came back in May 2025 and the service was absolutely terrible. I thought 30min for food to arrive was bad in my last review but this time it took over 1.5 hours for our food to arrive! There were other upset customers who were also waiting a long time. I asked the manager for a discount because of the crazy long wait but she refused, offered a much smaller discount, and rudely walked away while I was still talking to her. Very disappointed. I wasn’t gonna write this review, but after sitting on my experience here I didn’t want anyone else to go through the experience I did. The serving staff were fantastic, but I don’t know where to start. Whether I start by talking about the poor quality of ingredients or the fact the chefs decided to use meats they knew darn well that were passed their usage time. The ramen noodles gave off a foul mouth flavour even though their packet ramen powder soup had an overbearing flavour of MSG it couldn’t mask the foul taste of the noodles or the smell from the pork. The pork in one of our ramens had a greenish hue and was ultimately chewy and rubbery much like my car tire. The sushi rice was colder than the “fresh” ingredients it housed. Overall this is a huge health issue which can cause serious stomach bugs and food poisoning. Never coming back here again!

So this place is usually my go to for bento box's because the portions are so big but this time around the food was not fresh at all, I order two of the bento fuyu the steak bento and the steak was ice cold and tasted really gross, like it tasted like old meat and the octopus balls were not cooked thoroughly and the tempura was stale like it was hard so this seems like my order was cancelled by some one and then given to me because I ordered it with uber eats and everything was process and packed and got to me in 20 minutes flat so I can only assume nothing was fresh and everything was old and stale, the only good thing was the sushi and thst was fresh, I won't be ordering from here any more, it's too expensive to try and see if they corrected their mistake for a...
