I don’t understand why this place has any hype. I went on April 13, 2024 and the “chefs sandwich” I got was terrible.

If someone gave me this sandwich and told me they got it from Subway I would be surprised. Surprised in that Subway would go this overboard piling in so many poor ingredients. With Subway you at least know what you’re getting
a mediocre sandwich that’s sole purpose is to fill your stomach.

Grandma Love’s You fills your stomach, makes you question what “chicken” even is as a concept let alone a food, and then piles it so high you’ll be feeling like someone is playing a sick joke on you.

To summarize:

“Chicken” that has the texture of a sponge? Check. Bacon that if you hold up to the light is so thin it appears transparent? Check. Bread that forces you to build muscles in your neck to tear off a bite? Check. Fried onions that are piled on so high you’re tasting onions for hours after the fact? Check.

PLEASE go somewhere else. Even in the sane food hall I can think of one pretty good place.

Don’t waste your money. If you want a sandwich save $10 and go to Subway (and subway...

I'm salivating thinking about this sandwich right now and it's 1am. This was my first visit to GLY as it's a place near my work place.

The offerings here are numerous and it was hard to choose. But I decided on the chef's signature, which includes chicken, avocado, crispy fried onions and a smattering of other food stuff that just hits the spot.

The key part of the sandwich though is the quality of the bread. It's the perfect vehicle for this sandwich. Soft with a little bit of chew accompanies the fillings very well.

The sandwich is definitely on the higher side in terms of price but I couldn't get through the full sandwich in one sitting. The half is perfect for lunch but do yourself a favor and buy a full sandwich. It holds well into the evening. :)

The only minor issue is the wait time can be slightly long if you're looking for a quick lunch. However I can start that it's very much worth the wait.

Can't wait to return and try another menu item. Highly...

so i had heard about this place and had decided to come by after a workout to check it out. the real standout pieces to my mind are 1. the service 2. the atmosphere/interiors and 3. the coffee. The person who was at the counter when I came happened to let me know he was the head barista. how lucky was I, because he was right when he said it would be the best coffee I might ever have (I got the iced mocha with almond milk). it was a work of art, and it was indescribable, delicious. really really good. I did try a sub sandwich too, which was good too, however I do think the other stuff impress me most. I want to come back here with my ipad and do some work over a morning coffee some time and just chill. the people behind this place really care about the customer experience here. I really appreciate it and...

Someone once reviewed they would have to move out of Toronto if they couldn’t get the Spicy Ham and Cheese, so I had to try it. My sub was really substantial, absolutely overflowing and stacked with thick slices of lean ham. The crunchy fried onion flakes and lettuce added texture, as did the banh-mi style roll. I’m not a spice guy, but didn’t find it too hot at all. There were lots of jalapeños and a red-mayo sauce with a kick though, so it lingered a bit afterwards. Would absolutely repeat and clearly recommend. One comment on the atmosphere: Chefs Hall is basically a funky food court, so make note of that. I was also there early lunchtime on a Saturday, so it was pretty empty
