Great place for drinks after work! Are you Edna or Vita?! We chose Vita—find out more:
ATMO: The restaurant is broken into two areas: Edna and Vita. Edna is an elegant dining room and Vita is a welcoming lounge. Both serve the same food, but have different energy. This tells you how the design of the place and create a sense of living a life on one hand and being demure on the other. The design is simple, but quite well done:
FOOD: This is what you were waiting for! We started with a bruschetta board with 3 different sauces. The bread was a focaccia with cacio e pepe flavour. The flavour here didn’t really come through and the focaccia was a bit tough for the tasting. The sauces that came with it were quite nice, but mostly basic: puttanesca, tomato and pesto, and red pepper. The latter one really stood out as you could taste the sweet and savoury flavour of the red pepper in the sauce and it paired nicely. For the main, I had their steak and mushrooms. The mushrooms were delicious: earthy, soft, balanced with seasoning—exactly how you want your mushrooms. The steak on the other hand was only okay. Yes, they did cook it well, but I feel it was under seasoned. I must say, their dessert plate was impressive: biscotti, tiramisu, and Canoli?! Yes please! All was delicious, but we did miss quite a few lady finders in the tiramisu. Since I make this desert all the time, I would know! Biscotti with chocolate were great! Still thinking about them.
DRINKS: Yes, people come for drinks here. And they are really great. This was the best Negroni Sbagliato outside of Rome I have tried. And believe me, I had a few!
SERVICE: The service was so nice and super attentive. Definitely and example to all other restaurants. They also wished us a happy anniversary and the bill came out surprisingly low!
I recommend you check this place out! We surely will be back. That is, if they fix their...
Read moreAttended a birthday celebration at Edna+Vita and the overall experience was very average. Expected more and was somewhat disappointed.
The atmosphere is much louder than I anticipated. Initially my party was seated on the main floor but it was so loud we asked to be switched to the much quieter 2nd floor.
The hostesses that handled the switch were friendly and did their job well, however, our waiter was a bit too much and tried way too hard. Cocktails took a lot of time to be made: one of my friends waited 16 minutes in between old-fashioneds. I know it’s not the waiter’s fault but reflects on the entire service.
The octopus appetizer was delicious and truly the one dish that everyone on the table loved and complimented. The main dishes were just bland, too average. The Campanelle Alla Funghi had no mushrooms whatsoever and the mushroom taste was very very mild, definitely the lowest dish of the night. The lasagna also didn’t live up to its hype and price: the portion is relatively small (which is uncommon for lasagna) and the flavours just aren’t there. You can’t really taste the béchamel sauce and the ragù flavour was also very subtle. The tomato sauce was good but you’d expect more from a restaurant’s staple dish. The canollis were well made, crunchy and flavourful.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place for a dinner between friends. It’s way too loud for that. However, if you’re a 22 year old big 5 consulting analyst than this is the place for you, if not,...
Read moreWent to this place with a customer for dinner. The decor is very nice and so is the location. The entrance has a nice vibe and the decor is very inspired by older Italian restaurants. That’s where the good things end. Italian restaurants are known for their generous and egregious atmosphere and portions. The food was quite uninspiring and tasteless. We ordered the overpriced “special” which was an overcooked piece of haddock without any Sauce or a proper vege salad. The meal was conceived badly. Then we ordered desserts and the ganache was absolutely underwhelming. A simple thing like Caesar salad was also not delivered and left us wanting while the tab was going crazy because the servers just kept pouting overpriced sparkling water. The lasagne was may the best dish out of worse ones. The servers - one girl with an Eastern European accent was good but rest of them were just pushy. The ambient music was too loud and had nothing Italian about it. Even a smaller Italian restaurant would give them a run for their money. I wont be going here again. I had been here once for lunch a couple of weeks back and the Expereince was quite different … i guess their lunch and dinner menus are different with the latter being really uninspiring. Had the salmon at lunch and that was good and served with some black lentils … well balanced dish.
Please get your act together...
