I’m not one to leave bad reviews unless I’m really concerned, but I’m questioning the freshness of the salmon I got from this place earlier this evening because I now have an upset stomach. I ordered two servings of salmon by itself, which were supposed to be 50g each. I wasn’t sure if what I received was actually 100g, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The flavour of the sauce was great, don’t get me wrong, but the salmon itself had a mushy and slimy texture, which isn’t how fresh salmon should be. All the fresh salmon I’ve had in the past was tender and slightly firm when biting into it. On top of that, the pricing was unclear. Each extra serving of protein was listed as $4, so my total should have been $8—but I was charged $12.95 instead. I initially left without questioning anything, but when I got home, I decided to call the store. I was told, “we gave you extra protein.” The issue was that I only ordered two servings, and if I was being given extra and charged more, I should have been notified beforehand. If the pricing was different from what was listed on the menu, that should have also been made clear before I was charged. Between the questionable freshness of the salmon and the lack of pricing transparency, I won’t be coming back.

Came here to get some takeout and it was fairly empty, though they were preparing a few foodora/uber eats type orders. Pricing is a bit on the expensive side and the premade bowls unfortunately aren't at a discount vs make your own. They do give you a variety of toppings, though many of the premium ones are hard to justify spending an extra dollar or two on. For me especially, since I know other poke places that include it as part of the base (like crab salad or seaweed salad). The size is good and filling - I got the large and did not think they cheaped out on quantity. The black rice is also a nice touch, albeit a bit too sticky for my liking. Poke was very fresh! One last complaint was that I didn't get enough sauce. After mixing it all around the bowl itself was quite plain and I couldn't tell they added sauce at all. Overall it's alright - nothing special but nothing bad either.

I ♥️Hoki Poke. They offer quality fresh bowls that satisfy picky health nuts. I've tried 5 other Poke restaurants in Toronto and consider Hoki Poke one of the BEST. My "go to" order is their Spicy Poke Bowl. It's a super gorgeous dish with fresh salmon, spicy mayo, cucumber, edamame, green spinach leaves, sesame seeds, red cabbage, and crunchy tempura flakes, on a bed of black rice. I highly recommend adding seaweed salad and avocado. They are very generous with their portions, and medium is more than enough. Their large bowl has a deeper base with more black rice, and I am way too full to enjoy it at that point in my meal. I would love to see this spot continue to bring in more business. They definitely deserve it.

If you haven't snatched up your PO-CHI BOX, a surf and turf collaboration by Hoki Poki x Chibap, this is your sign to! Exclusively on Ubereats and available till Jan 30th. This specially curated box was as advertised minus the pickled radish and sauce on the gyoza. The gyoza was indeed very crispy but definitely could've used a little drizzle of sauce to make it a little more flavorful. Both varieties of Korean fried chicken were unbelievably crispy despite the travel time, which thoroughly impressed me. I personally preferred the original, plain chicken as I prefer savoury over sweet, but the other variety was nicely coated without being soggy and had a pleasantly sweet and flavorful taste. Though the poke portion is also preset and changes are not allowed, the combination was fitting to my taste, consisting of salmon (as per my choice for a 50 cent upcharge), edamame, cucumber, spring mix, purple cabbage, purple rice, nori, and crispy bits. Side note, they say not to include a note as no changes can be made but I did request for spicy mayo and they fulfilled my request! Don't underestimate the portions, I...
