I bought roasted chicken with rice and porridge here before when I went to the money exchange booth nearby for our US trip last year. I actually passed by this restaurant and saw lots of people eating there (before pandemic).. I love the porridge! Feels like I am in Asia 🤣 and the roasted chicken with rice really tasted like those I normally buy when I was still living in Singapore (miss that country).
Yesterday, when my bf (Jordan) and I wanted to go to the Chinese Bakery to buy mooncake, I told him about this restaurant. I’ve been raving the porridge to him and he finally said yes. He said he heard about this restaurant before and was surprised about the price (menu is available online, we saw pictures of menu prices from other Google reviewers). So we ordered chicken porridge (for me) and Hong Kong style porridge (for him), plus we also ordered mixed veggies and the long donut bread, ofc for pickup because of Covid. We managed to get there after 30+ mins because of traffic, and another 30 mins to go back home. It’s been an hour in total, but to our surprise, the porridges were still hot like as if it was cooked few minutes ago.. like really hot! We cut down the long donut into pieces and mixed it with our porridge and it’s deliciously amazing. One thing we’ve noticed tho is that the donuts were so oily. Other than that, we highly recommend this to everyone especially that it’s getting colder (fall then winter soon). We haven’t tried the mixed vegetables as we’re already full after eating our porridge, but for sure it will taste good. Before I forget to mention, the serving size of the porridge was huge!
Also, the price is affordable too compared to other restaurants that are expensive. They also follow Covid19 protocol...
Read moreJust came back from a late Sunday lunch at King Noodle Restaurant. It was quite busy, and even though there were two empty tables for 4 we were a group of 2, and so were seated with another group of 2 instead. We didn't mind, but some people might not like sitting with strangers.
To get a waitress' attention we had to stick our hand up and kind of wave at them, but it seemed to work. We both ordered noodles in soup, myself the #35 (bbq pork) and my friend the #34 (duck). It came quickly, and looked delicious. The BBQ pork in my soup was very tender and tasted very fresh. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth was nice. I did add a spoonful of the chili sauce they have at the table to give it a bit of a kick. The duck was quite bony (as duck is) but otherwise delicious, according to my friend.
We again had to wave to our waitress to get the bill, but she brought it very quickly. We did not otherwise see since receiving our food. We lined up near the front to pay, and left, all in all being there about 20-30 minutes.
The food preparation area is near the front, and while we were waiting to pay I looked it over. It is surprisingly clean, and all of the food looks very fresh. I eat in the area quite often, and this was really one of the cleanest places I have been to. The tables and chairs are in good shape, and the decor is quite simple but modern looking.
The service was good, in that if you tried to get their attention they responded quickly. Otherwise they left you alone, but it was quite busy, and I don't mind being left alone to eat, unless of course I am drinking and need refills.
I enjoyed it, and...
Read moreFlies in two soups that we ordered - unclean restaurant. Health inspector should really look into this place.
I usually only take the time to write reviews when I get really great service or really terrible service and unfortunately in this case it was the latter. Whenever I go to places like this I don't generally expect five star service and I'm not an overly picky person or anything like that. I've been to this place a few times in the past and usually the servers aren't that friendly but honestly most people come here for the food and not the service.
So basically the food used to be great but it seems this place is going down hill. Usually when restaurants raise their prices, the food and service get better but not in this case. We came in with a large group of about 12 people and we got two separate tables. Both tables ordered a round of soups and we were all grossed out when we noticed a small fruit fly in one of the bowls and gave it back to the server. Fast forward five minutes later and one of my cousins sitting at the other table noticed a fly in her soup as well (a big fly mind you not a tiny fruit fly like the one we found in the first soup). Told the servers about it but they didn't seem too concerned. I guess serving customers unsanitary food is not really that much of a big deal to them. The server was basically acting like us not wanting a fly in our food was us acting overly demanding or something.
So basically to sum this up - I will never eat here again and would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to get sick from eating their fly soup or whatever other concoction...
