food was good but the price point is quite high for the amount of fish to rice ratio for the rolls and the bowl. don’t get me wrong, they tasted good but not sure if it’s worth the price point. we had a good time and the service was great :) all of the staff were lovely. the seating time was perfect (1h30min) as we were finishing up right on the cusp of our time.

we had the monthly special sake- i can’t remember the name of it but it had citrus notes and was the 1st option of the two bottles. it was very sweet and not very cold- so maybe ask for extra ice if you like sweet sake. we didn’t end up finishing it but it was still good, just a bit sweeter than we thought.

we had the marinated kaisen don which was tasty (but maybe not worth the price point?) it was nice to share and try each sashimi together as it came with 2x of each; salmon, tuna, sea bream and scallop. the scallop was lovely and the sea bream also stood out. we are salmon lovers too so we’ll always love that. the tamago in the rice was a great touch- i loved it.

we also got the torched salmon and the ikura salmon roll. both were delicious. the torched was my favourite however, as it was melt in the mouth.

we ended up ordering delivery at around 10pm though since we got hungry again… but i do think that is due to the rice (carb) to fish (protein) ratio since we were stuffed at the restaurant and couldn’t finish all the rice.

it the food was a bit more reasonably priced or had a bit more fish to rice ratio the food would get 4 🌟

the atmosphere was beautiful in appearance but the tables were uncomfortably close. when people had to pass by they would brush the table, it would be better to have 1 less table in the line of seated tables for slightly more comfort at this level of priced dining. it felt like a fast food ramen restaurant with how cramped it was, everyone was just slightly too close for comfort- which again, would be alright if the price point reflected that but it is a bit of a higher end style sushi resto. 2 🌟

the servers were clear about our seating time and we stayed within it so we did not feel rushed. they were incredibly kind, sweet and efficient. lovely’s experience with them: 5 🌟

tldr; it felt like higher mid ranged sushi priced at lower high end prices, staff were lovely, atmosphere is not great for the price point of dining they are trying to achieve. we had a good experience, im not saying we didn’t but it wasn’t amazing or anything extraordinary from what i’d...

The store front is very unassuming that you can easily walk past. You kind of know to go here if you already know it exists. The staff are very friendly and super attentive. Never is your glass of water empty. They're very happy to discuss the menu with you if there's anything you're unfamiliar with. The restaurant side of the market is a little tight, in terms of seating but not uncomfortably so. The market takes up the other half and is for sure a place to check out before or after your meal. (Maybe after if you plan of getting any frozen foods) The menu itself has a lot of options. Here they still have a QR code for the menu, the drinks come on a physical menu featuring their regular drinks and summer specials. My companion and I shared the tasting platter. Most was easy to split. A few dishes like the pork and fried shrimp I think should have been cut in half but otherwise everything was delicious. I had the salmon lover that came with miso soup. It was delicious, the salmon was fresh and the overall dish was very filling. I had a surprise when I ordered the pineapple punch not realizing it came in an actual pineapple. I would highly recommend, it was delicious and well worth the price. It's also a seasonal item so get it while it lasts. I bought some ramen from the market because of a deal for 4 of them plus the insulated bag being $65, unfortunately they charged me the regular price of the items and I didn't realize until I got home. I'm still looking forward to trying the ramen, too bad they didn't give me the deal. Besides ramen they have an assortment of snacks and misc. items they are fun to look through. The commute to this location is very easy, I didn't take a car or uber but it didn't look like there was a parking lot nearby. The washroom is a single stall that is accessible friendly. But I did notice to make it more accessibly friendly the sink should be slightly lower and the tap further away from the wall as even for myself standing I had to lean forward to reach the...

I previously rated Kingyo 5 stars, but am updating my rating to 2 stars because of the poor experience we had tonight. We noticed that Kingyo had the BOGO offer for the Gyudon on UberEats. While I’ve never had their Gyudon before, I felt confident that it was going to be good as anything I’ve tried at Kingyo has always been great quality. Much to my surprise, the Gyudon bowls we received were the saddest Gyudon bowls I’ve ever seen.. The bowl was 95% rice, with just a couple of tasteless, flavourless beef slices sprinkled on top. It looked NOTHING like the photo on UberEats and it was really evident that there was absolutely no effort put into cooking or preparing it. While I understand that businesses will typically find loopholes around the BOGO offers on UberEats by either reducing the portion or doubling the original price, this was disappointing on another level. The two Gyudon bowls cost $20, and I would not have even paid $5 for it. My boyfriend has been to prison and said that the Gyudon was worse than prison food. You should be embarrassed to be selling this and your kitchen staff should be embarrassed to be putting this out. The sushi we ordered with the Gyudon was good, but this experience has made me never want to return to Kingyo again.

OLD REVIEW 2023 —— 5 stars Definitely one of my new favourite Japanese spots in Toronto. This place is a hidden gem - amazing quality fish, large portions, reasonable prices, and excellent service! Came here on a Sunday night, and the wait was only ~10 mins. Got the makunouchi platter, unagi chirashi, and kaisen don. Everything was super...
