Mama's Liquor & Lounge — Restaurant in Toronto

Attended for a private event last night. A+ atmosphere and drink selection. The music was also excellent.

Service experience was varied. On a few occasions service was refused for some of the guests over claims that they weren't tipping enough (while guests like myself were tipping 20% on some rounds). I know caused stress for the event hosts, who were doing what they could to remind guests to tip for the service. I can appreciate that this was also stressful for the service staff - as they mentioned this has become a regular occurrence at private events being held here. However, the way it was handled really soured the overall vibe for the evening in the end.

I’m glad to see that management has responded to some of the feedback around tipping and has taken steps to include an auto gratuity policy for private events going forward. Hopefully this new policy is communicated to any folks planning to host an event here...

Place is nice and cozy. Food is not bad, staff seems pretty friendly and helpful. Just a few things to keep in mind:

You have to bring cash. Although there's an ATM. Food and drinks is cash only.

You order food at the table and drinks at the bar. So even if you order food at the table be prepared to standup and go to the bar for water, pop or alcohol.

The big boy root beer...I'm a huge fan of root beer so I was really curious about this cocktail drink. It was was awful. I don't recommend it, it just doesn't taste good.

That said. Still a great place to visit. Good fries and great nuggets. I heard the burger was pretty good too (didn't try it). Their night shows are a lot of fun too.

Came in for a quick drink, stayed for the good vibes. The decor was really fun and the overall atmosphere was really lovely. I’m from the US, they could tell almost immediately and treated me with kindness and patience. They even let my small group sit down to eat our pizza from next door! Wonderful place, I would absolutely come back to Toronto just to hang out here again.
