Waited half an hour for a bowl of Hot Almond Soup #5. Store was moderately busy, but not overly.
The upstairs waiting room was unbearably hot. I read a reply from the owner stating that the weather has been on and off so they haven't turned the AC on yet. Well owner, it's been three straight weeks of 25-30 degree weather. What does it take to turn it on? I was sweating even before I got the food.
Wifi connection barely works if you're close to the window on the second floor, the connection strength is too weak. However, the free charging stations were nice to have.
Tables were uncleaned and sticky from previous messy patrons, and no one came to clean them in the one hour that I was there.
Normally I would have discussed the food first, but there were too many other issues that I felt made for a poor experience.
The food itself was tasty. If I were giving score just based on taste, it would probably have a full five stars. However, the quantity is far too small. The photos of the food on the menu shows the product having plenty of toppings, but in reality there is probably half that amount.
Fortunately all of these issues can be easily resolved. Its also surprising about the wait for the food given the large number of staff working at the time. With so many staff, it seems they should also have time to clean the tables upstairs. Perhaps the store is flooded with delivery orders that us customers don't see.
At any rate, the experience could easily have been much better. The biggest question mark is how it took 30 minutes to prepare one bowl of almond soup. Its saving grace was that it was delicious.
To the owner: I'm impressed that you read and reply to almost every review, but the A/C issue was reported by another customer two weeks ago and it seems that you did not resolve it. I understand that running a restaurant can have very low margins, but you're going to lose more customers than the money you're saving on the AC.
Customers probably wait long periods of time for their food because there isn't always an employee upstairs receiving the trays from the elevator. Implement a system that lets the employees downstairs alert upstairs customers that their order is ready. From there, let customers pick up their own order from...
Read moreThe Good: Ah the place that was under construction for almost 1.5 years and tempted all those yonge street bystanders for in all that time. The result? It was worth the wait. First the food, I ordered the signature Meet Fresh Signature cold dish, which includes Herbal Jelly, Taro Balls, Mochi Balls, and cream. I felt it was perfect, it wasn’t too sweet, the herbal jelly tasted good (unlike some of the other places), and the mochi was soft. The consistency was great. I highly recommend the signature Meet Fresh Cold dish for those who are indecisive or just want to give this place a try. The menu is pretty big. An added tip, the free mochi is pretty good too. I loved it cause it was free (for their soft opening), but probably would never order if it wasn’t, just my opinion :) IMO I would chose this place over ZenQ and mabu station (in terms of a similar dish of the herbal jelly and mochi).
The Bad: I would have liked another cream (they only provided one), I’m sure I could have requested for one, but they got a bit busy (get to that part in a bit). Otherwise nothing bad, but...
The Ugly: The wait time is long. The order time was quick and easy, but just waiting for my dish took close to 45 minutes (granted my dish seemed pretty standard to make). However, to give them the benefit of the doubt, it was a soft opening, they are still getting things into a normal procedure, and of course their staff is new.. so, I expect this to be less of an issue in the future. With that being said...
Extra tip: ... I would definitely come back to try their other dishes (and on the meantime update my review). Expect long waits for your food to come. There is an upstairs section, which has a lot of seating. They would kindly ask you to go upstairs to wait for your food there (first floor is more for those going in and out or waiting to order). Price wise, I think its pretty average ($8.70 for my signature dish), which isn’t over the...
Read moreHey Meet Fresh, I seriously want to be a fan but you need to improve on store operations.
I came the first time, and you were sold out of Taro Balls. That was majorly crummy, but I was open to trying your other items. When I ordered another item with tapioca, your staff told me the wait was 45 minutes for the tapioca. This to me is ridiculous, 45 minute wait for one of the main items on your menu...
I came again today, and again majorly disappointed. I ordered your Meet Freah signature and a Fresh Milk boba. From the time I placed my order to when I received the food was actually over 20 minutes...
When I asked if this is normal (waiting this long for one ice bowl and drink) they told me the taro balls were all sold out and are being cooked.
It’s clear you need to change your store operations. Why wait until one ingredient is completely sold out before cooking the next batch...... happened on both occasions I came.
Also, your milk tea is extremely overpriced. You charge $7.23 for this tea, but my receipt for the tea is actually taller than my actual tea...
I thought the ice bowl was good but not good enough for me to come back again and again. Improve on your operations and the price...
