Soup was okay.
We wanted to get the combo for two, and also wanted to try it with the “shakeheaded fish”. However, there’s nothing on the menu saying that we could select different types of fish, or which type of fish we’d be getting. So we asked if we could order the combo for two, with “shakeheaded fish”, and we were willing to pay the difference. The server said we can’t do that, because they COULDN’T change it on the order system, even FROM THEIR END. Then we tried to go ahead with the regular “basa fish”. The menu said “choose any two of drinks” and listed out “plum juice, soy milk, winter melon tea, coke, diet coke”. On the order system, there’s only “coke, coconut beverage, beibingyang(similar to Fenta)” to choose from. And as per the server’s previous comment, we wouldn’t be able to change the order to “plum juice, soy milk, or winter melon tea” (which are clearly stated on the menu) because they WOULDN’T be able to change it on the order system, right? At the end, we were annoyed and finally decided to order the dishes separately. RIDICULOUSLY, we could only add up to THREE toppings, using the order system. There’s no option to order more toppings on this system. And, according to the server’s previous comment, they wouldn’t be able to help us add anything, because the system wouldn’t let them do that, even from the back end.
If a front end and back end system is exactly the same and the staff can’t make any customization or any adjustments based on customers’ needs, maybe it’s time for a company to consider changing the system and make it more compatible and suitable for the market. If the system works totally fine, then maybe consider having a better training for the staff.
Followup: thanks for the owner’s response. Then the combo itself allowing customers to add 5 toppings would contradict your comment of “adding more than 3 toppings will make the taste weaker”.
Anyways, we’d strongly recommend you to start with the goal of having a clearer menu, and then figure out how the menu align with your ordering system. ie. stating what type of fish is in the combo, how much is adding more than 3 toppings, or even note in the menu it’s not recommended to add more than 3 toppings, and then figure out how the menu align with the ordering system, no misalign items. This is only the standard expectations from a customers’ ordering...
Read moreI stumbled upon this restaurant by chance during my lunch break on a Monday, and I glad I did! Despite being crowded, I was fortunate enough to find two available tables. The bustling atmosphere revealed just how popular this place is, with orders flying in and food being delivered left and right. However, what truly impressed me was the speed and efficiency of the staff, as I spent less than 30 minutes in the restaurant while enjoying a delightful meal.
Speaking of the meal, it was simply outstanding. I opted for the three-course lunch special, which came with a drink, and I can confidently say that it was worth every penny of the $15 price tag. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, so much so that I had enough leftovers to take home with me. The rice was cooked to perfection, fluffy and flavorful. The salad was fresh and a tangy dressing that complemented the meal wonderfully. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the huge bowl of fish soup. Piping hot and brimming with fresh ingredients, it was a taste sensation. The broth was rich and savory, and the fish was tender and succulent. Each spoonful was a delight to savor. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also top-notch. Despite the busyness, the staff remained attentive and friendly, ensuring that every customer was well taken care of. They went above and beyond to accommodate the crowd, delivering orders promptly and maintaining a pleasant atmosphere throughout.
When it comes to value for money, this place truly shines. For just $15, I received a satisfying three-course lunch with a drink. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, it's a steal 😀I left the restaurant feeling fully satisfied, both in terms of my appetite and my wallet.
In conclusion, this restaurant is a hidden gem for lunch. The combination of delicious, fresh food, excellent service, and affordable prices make it a standout choice. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I certainly won't hesitate to return for another enjoyable dining experience.
Note: Please be aware that my review is based on my personal experience, and the availability of tables and the level of...
Read moreSo, I've got to tell you about Mr. Fish – it's become my favourite spot for fish soup. They're open for both lunch and dinner, which is super convenient.
The menu? It's got some real gems. The lunch special is an absolute steal at around $15, for a soup + rice + appetizer + drink.
I got this delightful Golden Pumpkin Soup (swapped in tilapia for basa for lunch). It's packed with these funky pickled veggies, making the soup hearty but not spicy, perfectly seasoned. My friend had the Spicy BBQ Basa Fish - good kick, served with unexpected extras like bean sprouts and spam, and the basa is fried to perfection. The texture play here is brilliant. There was waaay too much food, so we got most of the soup as leftovers to go.
Don't miss out on the Cucumber Salad – it's got this great crunch, sprinkled with peanuts, and it's not overly garlicky. Price-wise, you're looking at around $20 per person after everything for huge portions, which is pretty reasonable. I actually think for small~medium portioned people, you could even share 1 main and get 2 rice bowls, and that would be enough food.
The service is laid-back – sometimes you've got to make an effort to catch the server's attention. But once you do, they're spot on: prompt and efficient. I'm a repeat customer for a reason. And their takeout/Uber packaging? Top-notch – no spills ever. They're also great at accommodating requests. Big thanks for always honouring my 'no cilantro' preference!
In short, Mr. Fish is this wonderful little place where you get to satisfy your hearty soup cravings in a relaxed setting. Every visit is YUM, and I just keep finding myself drawn back. It's definitely a...
