Worst experience of my life. What was supposed to be a special birthday celebration last weekend turned into the worst experience of my life, leaving me in tears and my guests highly uncomfortable.
I made a reservation for 6-7 guests well over a month in advance, specifically requesting a particular table due to its unique décor and semi-private setting, which comfortably accommodates our large group. I visited and called the restaurant several times before the event to ensure everything would go smoothly. Despite these efforts, upon our arrival, I discovered that our reserved table had been given to a much smaller group.
I immediately informed the staff member at the front desk, whom I recognized from my previous visits, about the mistake. However, we were offered an undesirable table near the service area. When we requested to move to another table that could accommodate our group, we were told that space was only for four people! How were we supposed to fit 6-7 people there? We politely asked the staff to inform the other patrons of the error and inform them that this section was reserved for a special occasion, but the lounge representative responded rudely, saying, "Don’t tell me how to do my job!"
The manager, David, then intervened, offering to cover the other group's bill, but they refused to move. When I inquired about sitting in an alternative section in the back, David refused, stating it was reserved. It was perplexing and frustrating to see that other reservations were honored while ours were not.
Throughout this ordeal, we received no sincere apology for the mistake, and instead, we were treated as though we were at fault. At one point I was so upset with the poor treatment and harsh tone of the team that I uncontrollably shed some tears. The manager said in front of everyone that due to this horrible experience, where my celebration was ruined due to an hour-long delay to be sat down, he was going to cover our drinks and appetizers.
After nearly an hour of standing and dealing with rude encounters, our originally reserved table finally became available, and we had to move over. By this time, our celebration was significantly delayed, and I missed my pre-scheduled reservation for transportation which I had to pay for. Despite the manager's assurance that our drinks and appetizers would be covered due to the inconvenience, we were charged for the appetizers. When I confronted him, he denied making such an offer, despite 6 witnesses, including our server, hearing it. He said “No, only the person who was sitting beside you heard me offer drinks and appies” meaning he admitted to me that he was actively lying. The manager condescendingly remarked, "Look, you got the pictures you wanted, didn’t you? You should be happy." This comment was deeply offensive and dismissive. I am also concerned about the apparent discriminatory treatment we received compared to the other group, who had their entire bill covered without any inconvenience. Three people sat at our table of 6 and watched the 6 of us standing around very uncomfortably for an hour but they got several apologies and their bill covered. We got rude treatment, bad memories, and no apology.
Our server, Anton, was the only staff member who treated us kindly and made us feel welcome in that space. We are grateful for his professionalism amidst this distressing experience. We paid for the appetizers the manager had previously offered to cover and tipped Anton well as a token of our appreciation to him.
I am incredibly disappointed with the discrimination and poor service from the management and staff. This experience has left me with bad memories, and I hope no one else has to endure such treatment. I love the atmosphere at Hotel Georgia and was in fact considering holding my wedding at the venue in 2026. As my longstanding ultimate dream venue, this was my top choice, but this horrible experience has made me reconsider my choices, particularly for...
Read moreOur first experience here was great. So we decided to bring a guest here from out of town. we booked a month in advance. Reservation was for 5:00pm We arrived 5:04, we called ahead letting them know we would be late as there was a 19 min slow down on the roads. The person I spoke to said it’s fine. Once we arrived We told the hostess my reservation name and party size, which was ignored. She told us to wait in the waiting area. Multiple tables were empty. We were seated twenty mins after arrival and not in the lounge which we booked, but in the lobby bar (table wasn’t even wiped down) By this point we just sat down because we were tired of waiting and had gotten valet parking. Hostess mentioned we have a hour and half, which I found so unprofessional when it’s listed upon booking and we would be out in a hour anyway for an event. Drinks and food fell short since our last visit. The young female Indian server was very attentive and gave us complimentary truffle fries. Which she didn’t have too, but was very sweet of her to do. Disappointed about the lack of...
Read moreI visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and enjoy Dine Out Vancouver, but unfortunately, it was a terrible experience.
My husband and I were seated at 6:40 PM. The server greeted us with water right away but didn’t ask if we wanted any drinks or take our order for 30 minutes. After we finally placed our order, the first appetizer took another 40 minutes to arrive, and our main course was served 30 minutes after that.
I understand that delays can happen, but in such cases, the server should at least inform us about the wait. However, during the entire time, the server didn’t check on us or follow up on our food.
To make things worse, our appetizer was missing an ingredient. I only realized this when I saw that the same dish at the next table had cheese on top, while ours did not.
Overall, the lack of communication and attention to detail made this a disappointing experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into account to improve...
