In a city filled with good coffee shops a place has to get it right to earn loyalty.
Artigiano Hornby did not.
The staff were indifferent to my presence, which, Comme ci Comme ca but zero points.
The cashier took three minutes and 20 seconds to process a transaction for a cup of drip (on a schedule looked at my watch as I went in) and was bankjaxed by the sight of a $5 bill. Oh well.
Then the coffee I was served was lukewarm, about 45C.
I went back to the counter and requested a refund.
Four times.
The staffer kept telling me they would make me a new coffee, over and over. Why would I want to taste indifference and mediocrity, as previously demonstrated.
Then it took a lot of crosstalk at the register about a third party customer's payment while I stood there, waiting.
I finally got my money back and then had no coffee and an overwhelming sense the ownership of the place was not working on their business.
I used to send people here because I'd had good experiences. Now I'm worried that the people I sent think I'm an idiot.
TL;DR: lackluster service, coffee that should have been dumped, no understanding of the customer...
Read moreI ordered a black coffee to go, so I don't have any fancy pictures of coffee to show you. The coffee itself was mehh....at best. It was the service that left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended.)
I'm a Starbucks customer and have been since they opened their first store in Vancouver. For some bizarre reason that morning I felt like having something different. I remembered Artigiano being quality, tasty and trendy with their bright red cups and tasty coffee. That's what I wanted that morning.
The girl who took my order was patronizing, impatient and dismissive. From the explanation of the cup sizes to the types of roasts they have, her energy, service and vibe belonged behind her bedroom door with some sort of chiller meds. I was really put off. She handed me a generic, cheap white cup of coffee with not even a forced smile and I was on my way.
No uplifting vibe, no welcoming service, no tasteful branding/decor, no mouth-watering sweets in the display and not even the smell of aromatic smokey, rustic, bold sweetness which could only come from a great coffee house.
Nothing which resembled...
Read moreWith the current climate I was truly shocked with my experience in this sup-bar cafe. I was visiting Van and went to work at a cafe (usually go to the Artigiano in Calgary). I realized I had forgotten my wallet but knew my boyfriend would be coming within the hour. They made a huge fuss about me sitting down and waiting with a coffee even tho I assured them he would pay for me on arrival. IT WAS AS IF I ASKED FOR AN KIDNEY, not a $2 coffee. Insanity.
The OWNER was so incredibly rude and when I asked for a glass of water she didn't make eye contact and slammed it in front of me. My boyfriend came, we ordered 3 coffees (should have just left). I will never go here again and considering there are so many great coffee places in Van the staff here should really try harder. Icing on the cake was when the manager loudly talked about me with her...
