Saw this place from the street and thought it looked really cute. We were on our way to Le Petit Belge but the lineup was really long. All I wanted was an Eggs Benedict for breakfast, I was craving it. So, we went back to Footo because that's where we had parked.
We placed our order and found a table. They were all dirty so I brushed the croissant crumbs off and sat down. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, my husband got the vanilla custard croissant. Our food came out and it looked great, but the hollandaise sauce was MISSING. The waitress asked me if I'd like some hollandaise sauce on the side..... ummmm yes.... I ordered the Eggs Benedict FOR THE HOLLANDAISE! Their picture on the wall shows an eggs benny delightful covered in hollandaise sauce. The waitress brought me a paper cup with a spoonful of COLD hollandaise sauce.... Never in my life has anyone served an eggs benedict quite like this. I went to the counter and explained that it was cold, and if I could get a bit more and get it heated up. They opened up a yogourt container and scooped out some more cold hollandaise into my paper cup, and heated it in the microwave. I was so stunned I didn't know what else to do. by I poured it on my food and half of it was still cold. By that time, I was pretty turned off the food. Also when I saw the girl pour caramel sauce out of a mustard container onto my Caramel Macchiato. My husband did enjoy his custard croissant with jam.
I feel like this could have been so much better. The croissant was good, the ham and bacon were good, the eggs were good, but you ALWAYS SERVE Eggs Benedict with HOT Hollandaise all over the Eggs Benny. If you don't know that, you probably shouldn't have it...
Β Β Β Read moreI just ordered a salmon Benedict Croissant (with spinach add-on) and a Turkey Pesto Croissant through door dash. Our breakfasts came on the smallest croissants I have ever seen without having a "mini" label on them. (Picture with my hand for comparison. Note that I'm a 5'4" woman with normal sized hands for my body, so I'm not a behemoth)
My two star deduction comes from two things: the tiny size of the portions/amount of toppings (my Benny croissant had a single super thin slice of smokes salmon. I could barely taste it amongst the other) ingredients and the flavourless hollandaise. It needed more salt and lemon for my tastes at least.
The croissants, despite their size though, were phenomenal. They had great flavour, texture and aroma and my boyfriend really liked the flavours in his turkey Pesto Croissant sandwich. I would happily get more croissants from this place and am interested in trying the Earl Grey and Almond croissants.
For the money I paid, I was expecting a satiating meal, but we had to supplement it with side dishes at home. I'm pretty disappointed by that.
If you're considering this place and are looking for a snack or a very light meal, it will absolutely suit your needs. If you want to leave full,...
Β Β Β Read moreVery good place for a bite to eat and cup of tea or coffee. The staff are super friendly and the food is freshly made. So do be prepared to wait a bit for your order. Iβve brought a few friends and they have become repeat customers as well. Personally, my favourite payday Friday treat.
I personally like how you can see them make the croissant dough from scratch. Or see slabs resting in the fridge waiting to be rolled and cut. You can also see that they donβt cheat and use margarine instead. The other nice thing is that when you order in, they serve you at your table - the place is tiny - but they don't skimp on the service!
Please come and try if you havenβt already. Itβs worth it! I recommend the earl grey or blueberry lavender croissants. Or if you are looking for savoury the smoked salmon or shrimp salad are good (am biased towards anything seafood).
Noticing some reviews consider the sandwiches too small. If you are a small eater like me, their food will be just right. Knowing my brothersβ¦β¦.one sandwich definitely wonβt be enough. It would be more a snack than a meal....
