My boyfriend brought me here for our anniversary on November 4th. I had never been and it was an old favourite of his from when he was younger and would go with family. When we arrived we were seated at a four person round table in the main dining room right off the hallway. The table was too large to sit across from each other so I sat beside him, my chair was inches from the chair and person at the table behind us. We asked to move and were seated at a two top just across on the other side of the hall beside a service dolly, it was loud and difficult to talk. My boyfriend mentioned that when making the reservation he had put that it was for an anniversary so we were definitely disappointed in where we were seated, there were plenty of other more intimate spots they could have put us. It took a little while to be welcomed and offered water. Once our server came we ordered cocktails and to start we each ordered the French onion soup, we enjoyed both. For mains my boyfriend ordered the 12 oz filet and I ordered the gorgonzola filet, we also ordered the crispy brussels sprouts to share. Our food arrived and I was given the Steak Neptune. When the server came I let him know it was the wrong main, he apologized and took it back. My boyfriend shared some of his steak with me and we ate the brussels sprouts while we waited. The brussels sprouts were more burnt than crispy, I've made better in my air fryer. The steak had no seasoning, not even salt. The server came around and apologized again, let us know it was his fault he hit the wrong button. He asked if my boyfriend wanted his food taken to the back and kept warm, he let him know it was fine and he was sharing with me while we waited. He ordered his steak medium rare, the plate was so hot that the steak continued cooking and was well done half way through. My food arrived and I was surprised to see green beans on my plate as the side veg.. I would expect a higher quality vegetable to accompany my meal. The mashed potatoes we both had were dry and unseasoned, it did not taste like it had any salt or butter for that matter. You know when potatoes are dry and they get that crust, thats what these were like. Maybe because the plates are so hot and the food just keeps cooking.. My green beans had no seasoning either, not even salt or pepper so I didnt eat them. I wanted to try the bananas foster for dessert but by the end of the meal we were just ready to get out of there and not spend any more money. We were not offered anything for the mistake with my meal except thanks for being understanding. When you pay this much for a meal the expectation is high and this fell so short. Maybe Hys was good back in the day but its definitely overrated and...

We experienced discrimination against children at this high end steakhouse when it came to arranging the seats. We had made a reservation in advance for 6:15, not a walk-in. Moreover, our baby was hungry earlier, so we arrived at the restaurant more than half an hour ahead of time, that was around 5:30 which was a very idle period for dinner, and there were plenty of empty seats in the restaurant. But! The hostess led us to a very crowded table, which was squeezed between two fully occupied tables like sardines. The aisles on both sides were very narrow, and the seat felt just like the middle seat in the middle row of an airplane's economy class. At that time, the restaurant was quite empty, with an occupancy rate of only 20-30%. At first, we didn't realize that we were being discriminated against. We simply thought that sitting between two tables of guests, our baby would be a bit noisy during the meal. Also, he is only 3 years old and is still learning proper behavior, and sometimes he would have a standoff with us parents. We didn't want him to disturb others. After looking around, we saw a booth in the corner. There were no other seats beside it, and it was Table 21. If you are familiar with this restaurant, you should know which one it is. It seemed quieter and wouldn't affect others, so we told the hostess that we wanted to sit there and asked if we could have that table. Considering that the restaurant might be fully booked on weekends, we specifically mentioned that we would eat quickly and that the baby needed to go home and sleep after the meal. As a result, the hostess talked to the waiter for a while and eye contacted with each other and said that she would find us another quiet seat. She led us to a small room in the semi-basement, where there were 7 or 8 tables crammed in, but only two tables of guests were seated. She tried to squeeze us in between those two tables again... That's when we realized we were being discriminated against. We emphasized again that we didn't want to disturb others because the table was too close to other guests, and that we would finish our meal quickly at Table 21. The hostess said that although that booth wasn't reserved, it was a table for four, even though it looked really small... So she arranged for us to sit at the table outside Table 21. When we were almost done with our meal after half an hour, a middle-aged or elderly couple/lovers came and sat at the booth they said was for four people, apparently the hostess lied to us! Those two guests were the same nation with us so it shouldn't be racial discrimination, then it must be discrimination against children. We still tipped 18% although we are unhappy with the seat arrangement and...

Ok so its been a few weeks after my flu has passed and the hubs is ready to collect on his birthday dinner. Before deciding on coming here we had another place in mind, the regular place Black and Blue. I did my research, i looked online, i asked around...then i started to worry. The feedback i got back from my friends were not very good. I even had one friend saying that her meal was over 300$ and it was only comparable to the keg or worse. Don't get me wrong I love the keg, but this is top dollar steak so i expect a top dollar meal! We started with the calamari, tenderloin carpaccio, and black & blue ahi tuna. We enjoyed all 3, however there are two items i can compare to Black & blue. At Black & Blue the carpaccio and calamari is a better deal (cheaper), more flavourful, not as plain as you would get here (they have capers on their carpaccio!!! Also its all in the seasoning). At Black & blue The plump calamari fills the plate here it just fills a bowl, here the carpaccio breaks when you try to pull it off the place because its way too thin and doesn't have enough substance to be able to eat a full piece at a time. It drives me crazy! I'm not sure if would come back for appies. I think i would just go for the kill and order the steak. I'm not sure if my friends visited on an off day (which would bother me, because the restaurants i always frequent are the ones that are consistent...consistency in service and food quality are very important to me) but the porterhouse was AMAZING. It was the best piece of meat that ive had in a long time! And i frequently eat steak. The short loin was juicy, succulent, tender, the tenderloin was melt in your mouth tender and juicy. IT was so good i cannot NOT write a review about it. I am excited to be able to come here again and praying that it will be just as delicious the next time. The one thing that really bothered me about this place is that we arrived at 15:00 planning on doing dinner as well as happy hour, unfortunately unlike other places for happy hour you can ONLY order off the happy hour menu and not anything else. We had to go back and walk around the mall for another 2 hours before we could eat and we were already hungry. I wish they would have specified that online. Happy hour isn't worth it if its so restricted and the only thing we wanted on that menu was the black and blue tuna. We ended up just paying the full price during dinner. I would come back again, but not during happy hour because i love...

시저 샐러드를 정성스럽게 만들어주십니다. 무려 3분을 넘게 만들어주셔서 이 가게의 샐러드에 대한 진심을 깊게 느꼈습니다. 서버분이 아주 친절하시고, 본인 일에 최선을 다하세요. 월요일 점심에 들렀는데 고기굽기도 좋았고 스테이크가 아주 맘에들었어요. 저희는 양이 많지 않아서 뉴욕스테이크10oz, 시저샐러드, 사이드 치즈토스트를 시켰는데 배가 불렀어요. 저는 치즈토스트가 생각보다 꽤 맛있었고 동행은 시저샐러드와 스테이크를 극찬했어요. 서버분이 둘로 나눠서 주셔서 너무 감사했어요. 이 식당은 그 샐러드 만들어주셨던 백인남성분으로 기억남을 것 같아요. 밴쿠버 처음 여행 첫 식사였는데, 진심으로 정성을 다해서 식사를 도와주셔서 아주 기분좋게 식사했어요. 다음에 밴쿠버에 또오면 그 서버분 계실 때 또 방문해야겠어요! 진짜 감사합니다😊

시저 샐러드를 정성스럽게 만들어주십니다. 무려 3분을 넘게 만들어주셔서 이 가게의 샐러드에 대한 진심을 깊게 느꼈습니다. 서버분이 아주 친절하시고, 본인 일에 최선을 다하세요. 월요일 점심에 들렀는데 고기굽기도 좋았고 스테이크가 아주 맘에들었어요. 저희는 양이 많지 않아서 뉴욕스테이크10oz, 시저샐러드, 사이드 치즈토스트를 시켰는데 배가 불렀어요. 저는 치즈토스트가 생각보다 꽤 맛있었고 동행은 시저샐러드와 스테이크를 극찬했어요. 서버분이 둘로 나눠서 주셔서 너무 감사했어요. 이 식당은 그 샐러드 만들어주셨던 백인남성분으로 기억남을 것 같아요. 밴쿠버 처음 여행 첫 식사였는데, 진심으로 정성을 다해서 식사를 도와주셔서 아주 기분좋게 식사했어요. 다음에 밴쿠버에 또오면 그 서버분 계실 때 또 방문해야겠어요! 진짜 감사합니다😊

Ok so its been a few weeks after my flu has passed and the hubs is ready to collect on his birthday dinner. Before deciding on coming here we had another place in mind, the regular place Black and Blue. I did my research, i looked online, i asked around...then i started to worry. The feedback i got back from my friends were not very good. I even had one friend saying that her meal was over 300$ and it was only comparable to the keg or worse. Don't get me wrong I love the keg, but this is top dollar steak so i expect a top dollar meal! We started with the calamari, tenderloin carpaccio, and black & blue ahi tuna. We enjoyed all 3, however there are two items i can compare to Black & blue. At Black & Blue the carpaccio and calamari is a better deal (cheaper), more flavourful, not as plain as you would get here (they have capers on their carpaccio!!! Also its all in the seasoning). At Black & blue The plump calamari fills the plate here it just fills a bowl, here the carpaccio breaks when you try to pull it off the place because its way too thin and doesn't have enough substance to be able to eat a full piece at a time. It drives me crazy! I'm not sure if would come back for appies. I think i would just go for the kill and order the steak. I'm not sure if my friends visited on an off day (which would bother me, because the restaurants i always frequent are the ones that are consistent...consistency in service and food quality are very important to me) but the porterhouse was AMAZING. It was the best piece of meat that ive had in a long time! And i frequently eat steak. The short loin was juicy, succulent, tender, the tenderloin was melt in your mouth tender and juicy. IT was so good i cannot NOT write a review about it. I am excited to be able to come here again and praying that it will be just as delicious the next time. The one thing that really bothered me about this place is that we arrived at 15:00 planning on doing dinner as well as happy hour, unfortunately unlike other places for happy hour you can ONLY order off the happy hour menu and not anything else. We had to go back and walk around the mall for another 2 hours before we could eat and we were already hungry. I wish they would have specified that online. Happy hour isn't worth it if its so restricted and the only thing we wanted on that menu was the black and blue tuna. We ended up just paying the full price during dinner. I would come back again, but not during happy hour because i love eat too much.
