This place is average and uncomfortable. I went there today and was unimpressed. As soon as I walked in, a guy sitting at the counter gave me "the look". If you're BIPOC, then you know what "the look" means. Given where he was sitting, I assume he is the owner or manager (?). There is no hanging menu board. The menu is printed up and at the front counter. I was reading the menu, and an employee actually took it from me! It was very clear that I was reading the menu. But she walked right up and took it. Well, that's a pretty clear message I wasn't welcome there. But I live in the neighborhood and had been looking forward to supporting this local business, so I asked the cashier what smoothies they had. I had read on their website they had them. She said they no longer serve those. So I grabbed a bottle of juice, paid and left.
The decor is typical. It looks like somebody went crazy with a Wayfair look book. The juice itself was average. It tasted like what I make at home, and buy anywhere else. The bottles aren't sealed, so you have no way of knowing if anybody has tampered with them. The bottles themselves are nice glass ones that can be reused. Their logo is across them. I tossed mine. I refuse to give them free advertisement after how I was treated.
They have a juice called The Karen that is on their menu in a pretty un-ironic way. I think that sums up what this place is like. I would say that the food is quite good and it is a super cute place, well designed but the service and staff were just incredibly rude. I'm not too sure if it was just busy but the place looked well staffed. We were seated where the waitress did not say hello, how our day was and took a while to take our order. We placed our orders and she didn't further engage with us. When giving cutlery she just placed it on the table and ran off. It felt as if she was in a complete rush and felt uncomfortable serving us. She brought the food over, which tasted amazing (kudos to that) but there was something missing from my order and I asked nicely about it and she said "we sold out of that" and ran off and my friend and I were quite shocked in the way she said it to us. Usually if a side or item is sold out, you let the customer know about it just to ensure if they want to continue with that option. We ate our food and went to pay and she started to really engage with us and it felt fake, making my friend and I even more uncomfortable and obliged to tip. When my friend paid she automatically added the tip without my friend adding the option which we were also very confused about. I understand servers can have hard days and may not be happy, I get that when working in the service industry but It honestly ruined my experience coming here and makes me not want to come back. Read moreWe came here for my friends birthday dinner on Saturday night (November 6th). We were really excited to try this place as I had read some great reviews online. Much to my disappointment the service was terrible. We had dinner reservations at 8. We started off by ordering appetizers and drinks. We ordered our mains by 9pm. Our food didn’t arrive at our table until 10:30pm. I had to ask our server multiple times to see what was taking so long. If that wasn’t bad enough our server seemed more interested in chatting with her coworkers and hanging out behind the bar. That is where she spent most of her night. We had to go to the bar to get her attention and when we wanted to order more drinks. We had ordered a couple birthday shots for my friend and they never came. When the food did come out it was ice cold. It seemed like the food had been made and left out for a while. At 10:45pm we asked for our bills. We explained how we would like the bill split. Our server said she would bring it right out. After waiting another 30 minutes I asked another server to prepare our bill and she reminded our server to prepare it. The whole time we were waiting for the bill we watched our server chat with coworkers and have drinks behind the bar. When the bills came they weren’t split properly but we couldn’t be asked to wait anymore for her to correct it. We just paid and left.
