I frequently visit Vancouver and have to say that Rocanini is one of the best coffee shops in Downtown.
I have gotten both the pour over coffee as well as a latte and they have both been superb. The latte was smooth and a perfect temperature when served. The flavor is well balanced.
Their pastries are also fantastic. I've tried the chocolate crescent roll, the plain crescent roll, and the blueberry knot pastry. The crescent rolls are both great, but the blueberry knot pastry is something I will 100% get each time I visit. The flavor of the knot pastry was fantastic and was a great addition to the coffee I was drinking.
And lastly, the staff is one of the best aspects of this coffee shop. Not only are they super nice and friendly, but they also create a uniqueness to this shop. From my understanding, most of the pastries are made in-house. After trying the blueberry knot, the barista said that she was the one that created the recipe for it which surprised me. I'm not super well versed in coffee but if you are looking for a great cup of coffee/pastries accompanied by a calm atmosphere and superb staff, I highly recommend this establishment. I'm very happy to see the owner embracing the creativity of their staff to create a unique experience that can only be found at the Rocanini Cafe.
Also the furniture and table tops at this shop are all fantastic. The tables are made out of live edge wood and it has a great...
Read moreThis coffee shop is a little hidden but but very welcoming. The interior feels very down-to-earth and organic, a nice change of pace from the ultra-modern coffee bars that dominate downtown. Friendly service from the barista. I noticed that they have a great tea list and a bigger selection of pastries that i wouldâve expected from the size of the shop. There are a good options for vegans (one sandwich and a few pastries). I stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drink. Everything had that homemade âprepared with careâ quality. I got the hummus and veggie sandwich, a âFerrero Rocherâ (their homemade version, which happens to be vegan), and a milk oolong tea. The sourdough they used for the sandwich was amazing! There are plenty of hummus sandwiches out there but this was definitely one of the better ones. I really liked their Ferrero Rocher too (more than I like the actual candy), it had a very rich cocoa flavour. The milk oolong (âmilk oolongâ is the type of tea, not oolong with milk) was nice and delicate. The prices are very reasonable, especially for downtown. My total was just under $20. You can pay with card, but there was a sign at the register saying that they prefer cash payment, so this is the time to use it if...
Read moreI was really bummed out because this place seemed like a good spot to work at and take clients to for a coffee plus it's a two mins walk from my apartment but after my last visit I don't think I'll be going back. The two ladies that work there are not very friendly and not very helpful. The music is great and they have good tables to work at but unfortunately they completely ruin the vibe. On my last visit I decided to close the window because it was a really cold day and I was freezing sitting next to it. After that the one staff asked another customer on his way out to reopen the window. I watched two people shortly after this happened leave because it was so cold (the one gentleman hadn't even finished his coffee) and another customer asked for her coffee to be warmed and put in a to go cup so she could leave. Instead of closing the window the two staff just sat at the back of the cafe drinking coffee, chatting, and eating. If your guests are cold, please let them shut the window so they can be comfortable or at least tell them why you need the...
