I usually never really write reviews but I'm writing one because I had the worst experience.. I was excited because I have been to other restaurants that are Zakkushi brand and I love the Japanese izakaya restaurants but this was literally the worst. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
AAA Beef Tataki was not triple A beef. It did not have any sauce, it was literally just raw beef and little bit cooked on the outside.. I had to spit it out because I could taste the blood and it was not fresh. I love beef tataki and sometimes I make it at home and cost-co meat is better than this.
Sashimi was not fresh at all and they tasted a bit old and dry. (we had another plate of bluefin tuna that was like $22, the texture was dry and not fresh at all.)
SHIORAKA- It was extremely salty and tasted very fishy with ocean smell. I do enjoy eating ika (raw squid) but this was ..terrible. Also the menu didn't specify it was raw squid. (I asked the waitress if it was possible to exchange with something else because we cannot eat it, and we didn't know it was raw. She took it back to the kitchen and came back to us saying "but you guys ate it right?" and put it back to the table, which was kind of questionable and rude.)
OKRA SHIRA AE- Boiled okra with some tofu paste on top. Nothing special and costs $7 dollars.
HOTATE MAYO- This was the best out of everything we ordered. Chop scallop mixed in chill pepper mayo. I would enjoy this with sake.
MINI RAMEN- This was really good compared to other foods as well, kind of salty. The chicken breast fillet was really soft and good.
-- Also it took 15-20 minutes for every single food to come out, and other costumers were asking the servers to follow up their order as well. Maybe the chef was sick and they were short staffed?
I'm really not sure how every single review has 5 stars with professional photographs. Very questionable. (FYI- I've been to Kingyo, Zakkushi, Raisu, Suika, Guu and Rajio. The quality of the foods were not even...
Read moreWe could have been in Tokyo in one of those small drinking places in the underground subway. The service was genuine Japanese, with a Japanese Sake expert that used to make Sake in Japan, and over 30 different kinds of sake. We hadn't intended to drink initially, I was attracted to the online food menu. We ordered Okra with tofu sauce, chicken karaage, oden, monk fish karaage, and BBQ yellowtail collar. All the food was excellent, the hamachi collar was gigantic. I did not detect garlic in the chicken karaage. The monk fish was delicious. Halfway through the meal, it was apparent that we had ordered items that were best consumed with sake. But how does one choose a sake among 30 without spending a huge amount of time reading in semi darkness about each item? Our server solved the problem by letting us try three kinds of sake. They were all very good. All of the sake on offer can be ordered in different sizes without having to take the whole bottle. When the sommelier visited again, I settled with a Junmai Ginjo that has a gentle banana taste, with the refreshing hint of a green apple. Well, it turned out that I didn't order the food I came for – their online menu was way better than their print menu. What we liked: a very interesting variety food and sake, great service, Japanese drinking house ambience. Needless to say, sake drinking generates quite a bit of loud conversation and laughing by the patrons. Next time, I must remember to refer to the pictures in their online menu and be sure to try some other items like broccoli, Aburi Shime Saba, or Harb Saba, and even Wagyu don. Oh, reservation is definitely recommended. We almost didn't get a table as most of their other patrons showed up with a...
Read moreI had high expectations for my birthday celebration at Sake Dining Hashigo, having made a reservation for 9 people on April 20th at 7 pm. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worse before it even began.Around 15 minutes before our reservation, one of my guests informed me that the restaurant was closed. Confused, I called the restaurant, thinking there must have been a mistake. To my surprise, the person who answered confirmed that the restaurant was indeed closed and claimed there was no reservation under my name for that evening.Despite having a confirmation of my reservation, the staff member never began to take responsibility for nor apologized for the inconvenience. Instead they insisted that there was no record of my booking. This was deeply disappointing and frustrating, especially as my guests were already at the restaurant.... Eventually, the staff member admitted that they can see my reservation and had forgotten to call us to inform us of the closure. This lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking and completely ruined what was supposed to be a special celebration. Considering it was a Saturday night, I was not able to find a table at a decent restaurant for 9 people, this last minute... Having experienced excellent service at other Zakkushi locations, I was looking forward to a memorable evening at Hashigo. Instead, I was left feeling disrespected and let down. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that no other customer has to go through such a disappointing experience especially on their birthday or any other...
