My family ate here on a Thursday evening while visiting Vancouver. I definitely recommend this place. We were greeted by a super-friendly guy who showed us to a table. The decor is pretty basic. So don’t expect ambiance. But it was very clean and well maintained. I think they should get rid of the TV mounted in the corner. I detest seeing a television in a restaurant. Unless it’s a lunch counter type of place, there’s just no need for a TV, it only detracts from the rest of the experience. Anyway, this doesn’t look like a place for table service, so it was a nice surprise to have the guy take us to a table. I wouldn’t expect that if they’re busy. He took great pride in telling us about the beef broth that anchors their noodle bowls. We think the hard work is evident in all aspects of the restaurant. We ordered two beef noodle bowls and one spicy beef bowl, and one vegetable bowl. We also ordered the pork wontons and some kimchi. The pork wontons were not very flavorful, however I would say they tend to be a mild dish anyway. The soup was delicious! The beef broth was excellent, and the noodles were delicious. I don’t think they were homemade, but they were perfectly cooked and tasted great. The discs of beef tenderloin (I think) were perfect. So tender and flavorful. They didn’t fall apart in my chopsticks, but basically melted in my mouth. I think next time I’ll order extra meat for my bowl. The server forgot (or maybe didn’t hear) my daughter’s kimchi request but they brought it promptly when I asked about it. And didn’t charge us for it. Nice gesture. Everyone there really seems to work hard, and they’re friendly. Several customers spoke Chinese with the staff. I am always impressed with multilingual people (I am not one), and the staff seems to really care to connect with everyone. I definitely recommend this restaurant. It would be perfect for a hot meal on a cold day, especially. The food we had was delicious and reasonably priced. I give 5 stars for the food, 4 for service (they would get 5 if not for missing part of the order), and 3 for atmosphere....
Read moreCame here with a sore throat and ordered some Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup since there's not much accommodating places around the area. The broth has some spice in it already so even if you order it non-spicy it still is, albeit pretty negligible. I had no issue finishing the noodles, but I couldn't finish the soup as the spice was more concentrated. Which is a shame, because the broth has a very deep flavour and is quite good. The beef pieces are also cooked just right. Even though I'm not crazy about pickled Chinese vegetables, the inclusion of them in your spoon is a nice touch. The noodles are also cooked just right - a good balance of bounce and chew.
老板 is also very friendly; I've seen reviews stating that he is "inexperienced" because of his friendliness? Which makes little to no sense because everyone wants to feel welcomed when coming to eat. I especially did. I requested for some hot water for my throat and despite not having any ready he promptly went to heat some up. The restaurant is not very large and it seems like 老板 does all the serving which he does a good job at.
Overall, it's a restaurant with great service and good food and decent pricing in the Vancouver downtown area. I will definitely come back again and try other things on the menu when I am...
Read moreI've only been here once but it has left a lasting impression on all of Google's rating terms.
The food was absolutely delicious. It catered to all ages with traditional dishes that appeal to older generations and things like boneless fried chicken for little ones. My 8-year-old daughter had no complaints and ate a whole bowl of noodles. (she's normally picky about Asian food)
Service was fast, effective, and just good. With there being a waiter on standby at all times; ready to help out with anything.
And the atmosphere could be described as the perfect place for introverts and extroverts. There was plenty of seating for people that wanted to eat alone. And I noticed the 'owner' (I'm actually not 100% sure if he's the owner) would go around and just make small talk with people. Giving the place a playful, calm, and chill atmosphere. (He was still being very respectful of course)
Overall, I definitely think this is one of those Asian restaurants you can just stop by one day to enjoy the air conditioning, comfy (CLEAN) seating, and mouthwatering food. (no seriously, there was so much flavour my only complaint would be they need bigger glasses for people who...
