If you’ve ever tried I Kyu from long ago you’ll know that it used to be well worth the price but this is sadly no longer the case. For one, the Miso Ramen is just a shell of its former delicious self (lack of fresh ingredients, different recipe) and doesn’t even include half an egg which it used to always have (despite the photo in the menu book having one). Secondly, the service today was one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve ever had! The server was incredibly impolite, firstly by not even wanting to try to understand that we used to order Shanghai style dumplings all the time at most a year ago, and was so dismissive of us wanting her to just simply ask the back as we’ve had it several times in the past and it was our favourite thing off the menu, and told us strictly there’s only what’s on the menu (we then asked her if there was maybe a change in management which could’ve led to the change in menu and she said no and gave very little care to our feelings) she practically made us feel like they were never there (they were on the menu above the tables although she told us not to look up there lol).
My partner ordered the pho but had no sides such as a trad pho would (i.e. hoisin which our server had no clue what was and tbh seemed like she was annoyed at our prior communication and ultimately brought over a different sauce). When we paid she just turned her back and walked away no thank you or welcoming gesture. Service was overall awful and made us sad as this was one of our favourite hole in the wall restaurants once upon ago when a Korean woman ran it.
Disappointed in the customer service, change in menu, and overall lack of attention to detail. We won’t be...
Read moreWe came here for dinner with my family on a weekend evening because we saw the reviews weren't bad. The rest of my family eat meat, but I am a vegetarian. My brother called ahead to ask if there were vegan options for me, and the server on the phone had said they had veggie wraps and other great veg-friendly options. When we were seated and I scanned the menu, there weren't any veggie wraps listed on the menu. They had lied about their own menu. I had a small plate of steamed broccoli; the only thing I was able to order off the menu. My family ordered noodles. According to my family, the noodles were "okay"; there was nothing spectacular about them. I would have rated this place a 3 up until this point. When we went to pay, the server stopped us and demanded we pay over 15% tip because "you are a party of five and you must tip more." This information was new to me. I politely stated that there was nothing on the menu, nor any signs to indicate that was their store policy. The server went on and had the audacity to say it was "the law." Really? My understanding is that you cannot force a customer to tip you. Tipping is a GRATUITY. You are not entitled to a tip. When we still went ahead and paid less than 15% tip, the server scowled. OH. Did I mention they didn't provide a legal receipt? This was the tipping point for us... very sketchy. The receipt they "provided" was handwritten and did not have all of the proper information on the receipt. :( It's likely these owners are not reporting all transactions to cheat on...
Read moreJust walked out of this restaurant. Everything was great until our very sweet and nice waiter (young boy) shift ended and a lady took over. She was rude and unresponsive for the rest of our lunch! What happened at the end was shocking! We asked for our check and she brought over the debit machine. Our expected bill was 20-22$ but the screen read 28$. It was weird but I dint think much of it and tapped my card. The same thing happened to my friend (as we were sharing the bill) and he caught that the tips were already included bringing the total to 28$ (20% tip). We dint even have an option to choose the tipping percentile. He noticed but still payed the bill. I was curious and asked for a receipt/bill which the waitress refused to give us. After pestering for it she showed it to us. We asked her about the tips being included for which she started acting like she dint understand what we were trying to say (like she suddenly dint understand English!) we dint want to create a scene and walked out. I’m not aware of any restaurant charging a mandatory tip for only 2 people. This made our experience absolutely disgusting! Although the food was decent will never visit this restaurant again!! Felt like we were taken advantage off!! Did this happen to...
