We went for a drive to Whistler on Monday for my husband’s birthday. We did not make any restaurant reservations and did not check out which ones to visit ahead of time. We were just going to spend the day wandering around and what spoke to us at the time. We parked in Lot 2, walked though Village North and Village Centre. We saw Purebread while walking through Village North and remembered how good the goodies we had were over a year ago at their location in Gastown Vancouver. Purebread it was for breakfast. The line wasn’t too long except we had to wait for a family of four right in front of us darting back and forth along the the pastry counter to decide on what they wanted while NOT remembering the vegan options that had just been told to them by the insanely patient employees behind the counter waiting on them. We were quick. Everything was right there on the counter with description. My husband had a flourless brownie and I ordered the expresso mocha loaf. I have to admit that I ordered the loaf because the thick layer of butter cream icing on one side of the loaf. I was in heaven as soon as I bit into it. The butter cream icing was dense, rich and slightly salty with butter flavour! The whole piece was dusted with chocolate powder. I could have just eaten the icing and be done but I did need the sinfully fluffy but rich bread to go with the butter cream. I felt like I was eating a piece of cake the whole time!

Purebread is absolutely incredible! They have an insane amount of selection and variety in their baked goods. I mean, just look at the photos of this place! Purebread is host to a massive selection including rotating goods for each season! If you come back often enough you will notice new things every time. Everything in here is so delicious and freshly baked that there has never once not been a line when I arrive. Sometimes leading outside! But trust me, it is absolutely worth the wait. I always end up buying a box of things from here because it is genuinely too difficult to walk in and just choose one thing. If you're looking for a hot drink on a cold fall or winter day then they also have a selection of coffees, teas and hot chocolates. But let's be real. You came here for the baked goods! Don't grab 1. Grab 3 or 4!

Was so excited to try this spot that it was the first place I visited upon arriving. Sadly, I was very disappointed... So many things caught my eye and I couldn't decide between the coconut chocolate cake, the chocolate bottom banana cake, and one of the passion fruit cakes. The person helping me recommended the chocolate bottom banana cake (chocolate cake on the bottom, banana cake on top) so I got it, but it was fresh from the fridge. Cold and dry. As I got to the edges, it was so dry that I couldn't finish it. And my friend wanted nothing to do with it after one bite. We both agreed, it didn't hit the spot and maybe we should try something else. I went back to the counter and explained what I was looking for - something less cold and dry than what I just had. I threw out a few options, but the person helping me didn't have much to offer so I clarified, "The chocolate bottom banana cake was so cold and dry that I couldn't finish it. I'd like to try something that's less cold, less dry, and maybe less dense?" She then told me she really liked the passion fruit lemon cake, so I went for it. This item was also fresh from the fridge 🫣 The icing was delicious, but the cake was... Cold and dry 😠It would've been nice to have received some sort of apology or empathy for the poor experience. Eh, save your calories and your cash folks.

I was not impressed with this place. The food wasn't anything special and if anything was way too sweet. Lots of options and they all looked really pretty but the taste fell short of expectations. They were also lacking options for drinks. There were no syrups or flavours for drinks and there was no decaf espresso. Latte art was pretty though. The service was bare minimum. No greeting when we came in and no smiles. They simply asked what we wanted and took payment. One of the cashier's walked away from my friend while she was talking. The barista needs to speak up as well since we could barely hear our drinks called out. Atmosphere was the only redeeming quality as it was super cute and well displayed. But atmosphere doesn't matter if the food and service isn't good.

So we stayed overnight and I had just enough time to grab coffee before my online class. My wife and I split up as the lineup at purebred is long and slow. Whatever, Covid slow. So I leave her to seek food. She returns to the unit with a massive bag of goodness. We ate all but what you see in the photo for breakfast. Yeah, it was that good. Not crazy about how greasy the food is. I guess that is baking with butter? Perhaps too much? I have had better but not in Whistler. We enjoyed the food and the service was great. Go here, every one else is. Be patient as there is a process and most people are unlikely to resist that draw of all the amazing food there. You will get your turn.

This is a famous chain bakery with a full-on selection of items. It would be a great option for a big group of people as everyone will find something they would like to try. It would be the perfect place for those who stay at Whistler for a few days or a week to get a loaf of bread. I think they do not slice it for you as they believe the bread will go stale quickly, so make sure you have a good bread knife. We ordered the veggie sandwiches today for lunch as we had lots of roast leftover from the dinner the night before. The veggie sandwiches by itself is delicious enough though. If you do not live in Vancouver area, you will definitely want to try it here while you are at Whistler.
