Usually I don’t write bad reviews, but this store really deserves it after our horrible experience with their customer service. This was my first time and would be also my last time to shop in this store. Wife and I came in to get a cup of coffee. At first we were in the line but noticed everyone was buying bread only, so we walked to what appeared to be the coffee side, where all the staff there completed ignored our presence like they don’t see a soul in front of them. No one acknowledged or made eye contact with us, so my wife actually had to flag one staff down to ask if this was the corner to order coffee, and this girl staff said “well, you need to get in the line” with zero emotion and disrespectful tone then she left. There was no clear instruction from the staff or sign in the store showing there is only a single line for all purchases, even if you are buying coffee only. There were 3 cash registers at different corners, so it was confusing. As the first timers in this store, we didn’t know what was going on or why ALL their staff would completely ignore us, but we did return to our original spot in the line as directed by that emotionless girl staff. Then, as we were standing there, other staff kept walking pass us and helped the next person behind us in line. Two staff even told us to step aside so they could take people’s payment who are BEHIND us. This was extremely rude and disrespectful. Then my wife had to flag down the second staff to ask why they keep skipping us, and the girl said “can you step aside let me help next person first and I will come back?” Then we flagged down the third staff, she even said “how about I help the next person first then I will come back and help you?” That was when I said “how about we don’t come back at all.” My wife then said to them it’s our first time in this store and we simply just wanted to get a cup of coffee, but we don’t know what’s going on and why all their staff were ignoring us. The second staff we flagged down eventually came back and take our coffee order and it took the store more than 5 minutes to make. My wife wanted to give them a try so she decided to stay to buy coffee from them, but with this kind of customer service, I could’ve made my purchase elsewhere. I had to walk out the store while my wife was waiting for her coffee, because this is how much their horrible customer service upsets me. In the end, I didn’t bother to taste their coffee, but I hope it was good since it took them forever to make a small size coffee. Since there was no customer service, and all their staff asked us to step aside for no reasons, don’t worry, I will step aside for good and you won’t see us back at all ever again. There are plenty of options to buy coffee in the...
Read moreHorrible experience with the female who served us today 4:45pm on March 30, 2025. She was very rude and sighing loudly as we were waiting to pay, making it clear she was frustrated with us for no reason. I ordered 2 whole sour dough breads and she slammed the sour dough on the counter after packing it- didn’t say anything at all to us the entire time nor smile at us and went to chat with her coworker smiling and laughing and left us there with the paying machine. We didn’t say thank you or look back at her and left. I would understand if she was having a bad day, but it was clear from her laughter and smile while chatting with her coworker that her rudeness was intentional. We were polite to her the entire time, but she completely ignored us, even after we made our purchase. This kind of customer service is completely unacceptable, especially when we did nothing to warrant such behavior. Even my boyfriend noticed her rudeness and how unkind she was to me. I truly expected basic courtesy and a polite attitude, but instead, we were treated with complete disrespect. If she was not smiling and didn’t say anything, I would be fine with that, but don’t sigh loudly and slam our breads that we bought, and show on her face how unhappy she was. The quality of the bread might be good, but honestly, the poor service ruined the entire experience for us. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and we will never return. It’s a shame because the bread is good, but the overall experience left a sour taste.
Edit: In addition to the poor service, we noticed that we were overcharged on our credit card. At this point I feel like this was done intentionally. It seemed like the employee didn’t care about her responsibilities or her job at all. We got the miso sesame sour dough and honey walnut sour dough for $10.50 each as stated here and here is my credit card charge! 31.50?! Be careful on how much you’re getting charged. Be sure to double check. This level of customer service did not deserve our kindness. I will be reaching out to customer service to dispute the charge, and if needed, I will also take it up with my credit card company.
Upon reviewing recent reviews, it appears that others have had similar experiences with this employee. Management: Please consider investing in better training for your staff and ensuring that all employees understand the importance of professionalism and customer service. Those who show a lack of care for their work should not be allowed to continue in such roles. Unfortunately, the negative attitude and poor service we encountered were enough to make us decide never to return again. This level of behavior is completely unacceptable, and it has left us with a very negative impression of...
Read moreI’ve gone into the bakery for five times now, I would definitely not describe it as friendly. The first time I went in was with my daughter and we quite literally were not greeted at all. So, we left and didn’t buy anything. I didn’t think I’d return. The second time I went in I went in alone, and the girl greeted me With a hello, ( finally.) I bought a couple of scones and a latte . Generally, I like to give places a second chance, even when the first time hasn’t been great. I always assume everyone’s entitled to have a bad day. The last few times I’ve gone in I would describe the service as cool, not warm and friendly and definitely not overly friendly. Just cool. The baked goods look absolutely heavenly and the display is over the top , wonderful and beautiful ! I was just in there yesterday and bought a loaf of sourdough bread. It’s lovely! I’ve tried a few of the scones and haven’t been disappointed by any of them. Although I am not plant-based, I’ve tried the plant base options seems to be because my brother and my sister-in-law are and when they come to visit, I want to be able to recommend them. And I highly recommend them! The lady in front of me in line yesterday complained that her service dog was kicked out and made to stay outside. So when I left, I noticed that her dog was indeed tied up outside, but I also noticed it wasn’t wearing a proper identity vest so I wouldn’t place the blame entirely on the staff for that. Anyway, I think the vibe in Whistler from what I’ve noticed since I moved here in March, is that generally speaking it’s just not a warm and friendly vibe at any of the places I’ve gone, as a rule. I’m from Vernon and I’m used to everyone being a little more friendly, actually a lot more friendly! I think that Whistler could really use some good old super host training. In my opinion. And take that with a...
