We went for a drive to Whistler on Monday for my husband’s birthday. We did not make any restaurant reservations and did not check out which ones to visit ahead of time. We were just going to spend the day wandering around and what spoke to us at the time.

We parked in Lot 2, walked though Village North and Village Centre. We saw Purebread while walking through Village North and remembered how good the goodies we had were over a year ago at their location in Gastown Vancouver. Purebread it was for breakfast.

The line wasn’t too long except we had to wait for a family of four right in front of us darting back and forth along the the pastry counter to decide on what they wanted while NOT remembering the vegan options that had just been told to them by the insanely patient employees behind the counter waiting on them.

We were quick. Everything was right there on the counter with description. My husband had a flourless brownie and I ordered the expresso mocha loaf.

I have to admit that I ordered the loaf because the thick layer of butter cream icing on one side of the loaf. I was in heaven as soon as I bit into it. The butter cream icing was dense, rich and slightly salty with butter flavour! The whole piece was dusted with chocolate powder. I could have just eaten the icing and be done but I did need the sinfully fluffy but rich bread to go with the butter cream. I felt like I was eating a piece of cake the whole time!
