First and foremost the food here is really good. It is obvious they take the time to prepare fresh and flavorful food. I can't say that the service is the best I have received. My waitress was friendly and nice but very rarely visited our table, we had ordered appetizers and my fork was taken when they were cleared, when my main course arrived the runner dropped them off and left before I could say I needed another fork, I ended up having to find my own at the server station. Normally I wouldn't point this out except that it wasn't an overly busy Monday and I found it odd that I couldn't locate a server on the floor. I had the wrapped boccocini as an appetizer; well made well presented and flavorful, my main course was the fried chicken with the Mac and cheese. The chicken was consisted of two panco crusted breasts that were deep-fried, the seasoning was excellent and they were cooked perfectly, the coating was nice and crunchy. I was disappointed with the "Mac and cheese" essentially 5 ounces of penne noodles with cheese sauce. The "Sriracha honey" dipping sauce was just that, Sriracha and honey served in a little plastic cup. It was a decent dish. My spouse had the mussels to start, nice portion, very flavorful, she had the short ribs, roughly a six ounce portion of ribs served with mashed potatoes that you could see had clearly been in a steam table for quite some time but they did have good flavor as did the sauce and the ribs. I had a draft beer and my spouse had a sangria. Total bill $136 before tip. I enjoyed my meal but with it costing essentially $70 per person for a drink, an app and a main I have too many other choices in that price range at restaurants that pay a little more attention to both detail and to service. I would say this place is worth a visit, but I can't recommend it as a place to...
Read moreMy partner and I decided to go out somewhere nice on a relatively quiet Friday evening, however after leaving the restaurant we are both absolutely baffled by what we went through. Every instance added up to the worst experience either of us have ever had at a restaurant. Keep in mind I am writing this review a day later as my anger from the situation needed to wear off so that I could be a fair critic. Our server was very polite keep in mind, however we only saw her every thirty minutes. We waited first for drinks and a charcuterie board that took an hour for us to receive. The drinks and the charcuterie board both tasted fine despite the fact that we only got 3 pieces of the cracker they serve with the board and had to buy more. I would say they were worth the price but not the time waiting for them. After that we waited another hour for our entrées of which we ordered at the same time as our starter. We got the Cornish hen and braised beef pasta dish, respectively. The broccoli in the pasta dish was rock solid and the beef was sparse. As for my meal, the mushroom stuffing in my Cornish hen was cold, as were the vegetables which were also bitter. The whole thing was bland. After waiting so long I was reluctant to wait any longer and ate what I could. Our waitress was apologetic and offered a free dessert, of which we took to go. To top it all off the bill was like a slap to the face. Overall it is extremely disappointing how the food turned out and even more strange that an establishment with a dining limit of two hours took that same amount of time to deliver food to our table at a time when the restaurant was not busy. When you go here you are truly only paying to support local food producers as the food they serve is not worth anything close to what they charge. The whole ordeal seemed...
Read moreWe went to Finkle Street Tap and Grill, and it was a great experience! The restaurant had a beautiful fireplace setting that made everything feel cozy, and the food was scrumptious.
First off, my friend is celiac and needs to have gluten-free options, and this restaurant was super accommodating with her allergy. They were really attentive in making sure the kitchen had all the info to avoid cross-contamination. We started with the roasted red pepper starter with house-made flatbread, and it was creamy and full of flavor. My friend had the short ribs special, which was entirely gluten-free, while her husband enjoyed the pizza, my husband had the wagyu burger, and I went for the seafood risotto plate. Everyone was so happy with their meals! We were all saying "mmm" here and "mmm" there—it was absolutely delicious!
Unfortunately, my friend wasn't able to finish her meal, so she had plenty of leftovers for another meal. But when we were leaving, she put down the takeout container to hug us goodbye and forgot the leftovers there. She realized it on the drive home and called the restaurant to have them set it aside for her, but they had already thrown it out. She was so heartbroken that one of the best gluten-free meals went in the garbage. However, the Finkle staff immediately tried to rectify the error by offering her a discount on her next visit, which made her very happy because she definitely wants to go back after such a wonderful first visit.
To finish off our meal, we each had dessert: house-made fried cheesecake which was wrapped in phyllo pastry, a gluten-free brownie, and shortcake, along with some divine French press coffee. It was the perfect ending to a...
