My wife, daughter (almost 3), and I went here for lunch today. We were very disappointed. I had been here once before, and my wife had been a few times, and it had always been good enough before. But today, all 3 of our meals were terrible. My waffle with chocolate and bananas was overcooked and bland. It was crunchy! And the bananas offered the only decent flavour - the chocolate was almost bitter (which would be fine if the menu said it was dark chocolate, but I don't think that's what it was - I think it was just a cheap chocolate-like sauce that was poured on top that wasn't sweet enough to properly pass as chocolate. My wife ordered a ceasar wrap. About half of the lettuce was wilted. There was about 1/3 of a slice of bacon total in the whole wrap. What we thought was burnt bacon crumbles - the waitress kindly informed us that it was actually the homemade breading for the chicken breast (which had all fallen off it) - was almost black in colour, and actually tasted very burnt. But we were informed that the breading always looks like that, as if that should reassure us (at least she didn't go so far as to say it always tastes burnt, but neither did she apologize for that). Additionally, the chicken strips that were there (with no breading left attached to them) were so overcooked that it was hard to chew through them - it was as if the breading was added after cooking them, and no flavour was cooked into them, since they were tasteless with no breading left on them (a little salt while cooking would go a long way). And my daughter had the children's chicken strips with fries. The fries tasted great (how can you go wrong with deep fried fries) - but they looked like they were the bottoms of about 3 bags of fries. More than half of the fries on the plate were crumbs. And while the chicken tasted okay at first, we must have gotten lucky with the first couple bites. As I finished off her meal at the end, the edges of the last strip were much darker, and tasted very burnt compared to the other two strips. But at least the breading didn't come off them! Oh wait, that's because the waitress informed us (when talking about the wrap) that the kid's chicken strips come from a frozen box. Normally at family/seated restaurants, I'm used to being asked how my food is after about 2 or 3 bites (the odd time, I've even been asked before I get my first bite into my mouth). But upon tasting our food, and being disappointed in the first impression, our waitress was nowhere to be seen. So being as hungry as we were (it was already a late lunch, and we waited longer than I felt we should for our two adult meals), we just kept eating. About halfway through the meals was when we finally had a chance to express our displeasure. She offered to let us order something else, or to remake our orders (as if we want another crispy waffle or a wrap with breaded chicken that always looks dark enough that you can tell it's burnt by looking at it!) but we needed to get going shortly and didn't have time (or desire) to wait another 20+ minutes for more food. She was kind enough to take 10% off our 2 dishes (not even the whole bill). When I asked about the 10% discount, which came up as a Senior's Discount, she commented that it was the only discount she could apply without needing to "argue with the manager". She knew we were not pleased with the food - maybe it would have been wise to talk about it with the manager. Then I may not have felt compelled to come and share our experience here. Oh, and I almost forgot - an Orange Float was on the menu, which sounded simply delightful. But when I tried ordering it, I was informed that they don't carry it anymore, since no one seemed to order it, and the last time they had it in the kitchen, it went bad (how does orange soda...
Read moreThe restaurant looks nice from the inside and out, and it smells like great flavours when you first walk in. There was a line up just after 12pm but got seated quickly and the staff was super friendly. We were too late for breakfast (was the only reason we went there, but decided on other menu items). The drinking glasses have white marks on them but waitress said it’s from the soap or salt from the dishwasher (but why would you still use these glasses for drinking when they have dirty looking marks on them??? - get new glasses). We waited almost an hour for our food (all sandwiches and fries - 5 orders). I ordered a Montreal smoked meat on rye but got corned beef. There is no way what they served me was smoked meat, I know my smoked meat from corned beef and this definitely was corned beef. The Dijon mustard was not specified in the menu, instead specified as ‘mustard’ otherwise I would have asked them to hold the Dijon (there is a difference between the two and some people don’t like Dijon). My sandwich was stacked with corned beef and a ton of Dijon making the bread extremely soggy and leaking onto my plate, the bread was not toasted which could have soaked up some of the Dijon. I showed our waitress (she agreed it was too soggy and apologized) and offered to replace it but I felt bad and asked for 2 new toast ryes instead and I would transfer the beef into the new bread myself. She came back after 10 minutes with black burnt out toasts, explaining it was double toasted so it wouldn’t be too soggy (smh) and from the look on her face I knew she even felt stupid giving me the burnt black toasts...we will never go back. The food was terrible for me and the rest of my family thought their food was mediocre and would not return for the simple fact of having to wait an hour for our food and it wasn’t even worth the wait. If it was worth the wait, maybe!!! but it...
Read moreGreat looking interior. Very clean. The service was excellent and the food was nice and hot when it was brought to the table. The only thing I was disappointed about was what I chose to order. I felt it was way overpriced when I saw it arrive at the table. I ordered the breakfast meat skillet (I can't remember the exact name of it on the menu). It was $12.75, or close to that amount. I was expecting my eggs, hash browns and toast to be on the main plate and the meats, onions and peppers to be in the skillet. Instead, the hash browns were placed overtop of the meat and veggies and my over easy eggs placed overtop of that. They broke one of the eggs, but I didn't care, I was going to break them up anyway. But what I was ultimately disappointed with was the lack of meat. I believe it was supposed to be chopped bacon, sausage, and ham. I may have one of those choices wrong but regardless, the amount in the skillet was very lacking in quantity. Seeing the servings of hash browns coming out on other plates made me think that I got low-balled on those too by them being put in the skillet. If I remember correctly the standard breakfast was $6.75. In comparison, had I ordered two of those I probably would have ended up with more meat, only paid $0.75 more in total and ultimately received more food. The taste was great. I just don't recommend the...
