If I had to break it down, food was pretty good - 8/10. Service was 2/10. I went to the lunch buffet and got a free meal with me and my girlfriend. There was 7 meal options including rice and some veggies/sweets on the right side - pretty lackluster. We were first told to sit down, after I gave the greeter the free buffet cards, and then I asked “Do we go to the buffet..?” He then responded with “Yes” that’s it. Why ask us to sit down if we need to go to the buffet? Where are the plates? No signs anywhere, no warm welcome. Felt uncomfortable eating. The names for the meals are in a different language so we had no idea what was in the food (my girlfriend’s vegetarian). No one asked us if we wanted water or drinks. The greeter/server (tall dude) was quiet, spoke 3 words to us and that’s all. I had to ask them if there was naan - that should be offered/asked to us, not the other way around.
First impressions are everything and I wasn’t impressed at all. Royal treats is phenomenal in terms of food and service. Empress had pretty good food but if you like navigating through a restaurant without any help or direction then this is the...
Read moreThis is a review for Taj Eatery. I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to warn others. I ordered Schezwan Chicken Fried Rice, expecting at least a decent meal for the high price – but what I got was barely edible.
First, the chicken was not fried, which is completely off for this dish. It’s supposed to be stir-fried, not coated like fast food nuggets. Second, the vegetables were clearly frozen – soggy, bland, and not fresh in the slightest. The overall taste was just wrong. No real Schezwan flavor, just oily rice with low-quality ingredients.
For the price they’re charging, the quality is unacceptable. It felt like a lazy, corner-cut version of what could have been a flavorful dish. I will not be ordering from here again and strongly suggest others look elsewhere if they care about...
Read moreWe have grabbed takeout from Empress a few times and I must say that it is a work of art. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, all the right Indian herbs and spices, exceptional presentation even for takeout - you can tell the owner and their cooks really take pride in what they do. It’s a treat to eat here and you MUST GIVE THEM A TRY. This past weekend we got a biryani, a goat curry — the meat was so tender in both with amazing flavours throughout. The butter chicken was also really good — rich and sultry sauce. The samosas generously large and great taste throughout. The naan bread — It’s crispy, fluffy and airy all at the same time. I’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants and this one ranks high, and definitely the best in Woodstock ! We will be back for sure, and please if you see my name - recommend some...
