To preface, we read a ton of reviews on this restaurant before going and thought it would be worth the experience. It was NOT! Maybe the staff were having a really bad day, but it seems that others have experienced what we have.
Of all the places we visited while in Chile, La Luna was not a good experience. Our party of five was given a table upstairs in an already crowded restaurant. Other groups (some larger than ours) came in and received their drink order as well as their food long before we did. From the time we arrived until we received our order, the wait was just over an hour and 15 minutes!
The waitstaff were rude, not attentive in anyway, and we finally had to go ask for some help to get dessert ordered as well as to get any more to drink (just waters and sodas).
As for the food, it did not have a lot of flavor compared to every other Chilean restaurant that we ate at on our trip from Santiago down to Punta Arenas. Most of the side dishes were barely warm or served cold. The meats tasted like the plates had been sitting under a warming light before the waitstaff remembered that they should bring them to our table.
For the price and the massive lack of service, I would highly recommend going to a different restaurant until this matter is taken care of. While the environment is exceptionally loud, it really falls apart when it comes to service and wait times.
The only redeeming quality which added another star to this review was the desserts. When they finally arrived, they were full of flavor and the price was not ridiculous like other places we tried. However, by the time we got to dessert, most of the restaurant had cleared out and there were no crowds. It still took 15+ minutes to get our desserts...
Read moreOne word: extraordinary! La Luna is not just a restaurant—it's an experience. From the moment you step in, the decor grabs your attention with its eclectic mix of maps, vintage bottles, and quirky details that create a warm and unique vibe.
We had our first taste of king crab in the chowder, and it was absolutely divine—rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The shrimps, seasoned with merken (which I love), were just… mmm… satisfying 😍. Perfectly cooked, they had none of the rubbery texture you sometimes get with calamar. Every bite was a delight, leaving us craving more.
The service? Absolutely flawless. Our server was attentive and delicate, always checking in at the perfect time while letting us enjoy the atmosphere. They made us feel like valued guests.
Whether you're dining on the cozy mezzanine or enjoying the lively view near the bar, the ambiance is unforgettable. Make sure to explore their extensive wine and beer selection—it’s a perfect complement to the fresh seafood.
La Luna is a must-visit for anyone in Punta Arenas. I can’t wait to return and try more dishes. Highly recommended for food lovers and...
Read moreI have always enjoyed La Luna in the past, but my latest visit was disappointing on several fronts. I ordered the "three types of meat with potatoes" - simple dish I'd had here before. But I found myself waiting what seemed like an unreasonable time after ordering; patrons who had come in after me were finishing their meal by the time I managed to flag down one of the staff to ask if there was a problem. She was gone for a while before returning to ask, "Tell me again what you ordered?" Not a good sign. She came back after another few minutes and told me it would be about 10 minutes. The patrons who had arrived after I ordered were gone by the time my food arrived.
And when it finally did arrive, the meat was overcooked to the point of being tough and rubbery, and the whole thing - potatoes, meat and broth - were so salty, I could taste nothing of the flavors, just salt. I was unable to finish it. This is not at all how I remembered La Luna from...
