The only food stall at the vibrant Queen’s Street Cooked Food Market that serves good quality local Hong Kong-style Cantonese cuisine with affordable price.
I made a reservation for a Friday night dinner and have pre-ordered Braised Lamb Belly Stew with Bean Curd Skin (枝竹羊肉煲). I’m glad I did that because the lamb stew was so delicious and flavourful. It was such perfect warm earthy dish for a cold winter night.
Other dishes such as Stir-Fried Clams in Black Bean Sauce (豉汁炒蜆) and Salt & Pepper Squid (椒鹽鮮魷) had heavenly “wok hei” taste that included the complex charred aroma.
However their Stir-Fired Beef Ribs (中式牛仔骨) was a big disappointment, those meat have been heavily tenderized with baking soda that they simply had no texture left. As for the Stir-Fried Glutinous Rice (生炒糯米飯), it was ruined by too much pig oil.

Read moreAmazing spot for either lunch or dinner. Located in a cooked food center, the vibe is real nice with all the locals gathering to have a good meal. There are varied options for lunch, from rices, noodles to even congee. Food is cheap and comes out fast so it makes it an ideal spot for people in a hurry. They serve up classic Hong Kong style dishes such as curry and rice, fried pork chops and rice, fried noodles with beef and the list goes on. Coming here for dinner, they pivot to a family style restaurant were all the dishes are meant to be shared. Our favorites for dinner were the garlic ribs, steamed minced pork and the eggplant pot. White rice is highly recommended as almost all of the dishes here at dinner will pair well with rice. The staff are also super chill and friendly, great...
Read moreI recently visited Chan Choi Kee Restaurant, which was recommended to us by a friendly passerby when we stopped to ask for a lunch suggestion. I'm so glad we decided to give it a try! The food they serve is truly authentic and offers a taste of local Cantonese cuisine that’s hard to find in most restaurants.
We opted for one of their set meals, and it was definitely worth it – delicious, satisfying, and full of flavors that showcase traditional Cantonese dishes. The restaurant can get crowded during lunchtime, but it’s worth the wait. It’s located in a food court setting, so there’s also a variety of other ethnic foods to explore, including Nepalese cuisine.
Overall, a fantastic spot for anyone craving real Cantonese flavors! Highly...
