Elephant Grounds (Central) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

We have been at the Elephant Grounds Mid Levels for lunch and we were really hungry. We saw that they have a good breakfast there, but it was around noon and the breakfast is only served till 11:30 am. We had an Avocado Toast, an Chicken Salad with green apples and almonds and a home made blueberry yoghurt with granola and fresh fruits. (banana, strawberry and blueberries) For drinks we had an Blueberry Shake and an Thai Tea with milk and cream.

AsThe food was delicious and they used very fresh ingredients. We waited only 15 Minutes for the food. They have a good choice of desserts. For dessert we had an Oreo Cheesecake and an Cappuccino. I really recommend this cheesecake, so delicious. The caffee was just okay. Tree time a week they have live music starts at 9:45 pm. They have a small stage and monitors where you can watch the music videos.

I can't say enough about this place. They have some of the best, most consistent espresso drinks in the city. Their food, bakery items and ice cream are all delicious. The staff know me by name and know my drink (ok, I go everyday). The staff and atmosphere make EG the best hang out spot in HK, in my opinion. There are other good quality coffee shops, but the staff are impersonal and the space uninviting. They have outdoor seating in front and back which is dog-friendly. They even bring my dog a bowl of water! The tables inside are a bit close together, but they do make the most of their space. Upstairs seating is open now as well. They have other locations, with the same high quality standard and lively atmosphere. My only complaint is that just as I get to know the staff, they seem to leave. Bad manager leads to bad training “We don’t give time limit so we don’t know! We don’t give time limit so we don’t know!” the manager kept raising his voice to talk over me as I asked how long is the wait. I said I understand you have no time limit, but you or your staff should be able to take a look and give an estimate of when someone MAY be done like any other restaurant, including other Elephant Grounds. This explains the refusal of the staff to give a time estimate - a strange refusal since most people just eat and go. The manager’s attitude was so bad that it deserves a mention. No sorry, no apologies, just barking over customers asking for what all restaurants do. The food and servive was ok, making this attitude even more weird.
