Buddy Thomas called me for lunch in Central, long way from CWB, but Thomas insist because he knows my preference, ambience, food & service, what the hack! Arrived, small shop, high ceiling capturing the mixture of joy & laughters,French bistro indeed! Next I discovered the ceiling fans were driven by trolley, not sure what decade was the design, but unique! Sparkling came, deliciously chill, washed away the hot & humid. A pleasant server called Vianney came with menu suggested lunch what was good, I simply had the goat cheese beet root salad, steak & fries. Nicely heated mini French baguette, then my salad 👌 We had 2 glasses before the main, came the right lunch portion steak, must stress the fries were 1/4 thickness of our known FFs, crisp and not overly starchy finish👍 Steak was rare, well sealed outside, rare, nice! Not sure which part of the cut, but juicy, intense, touch of sweet at the end😋 Wow.. what a lunch! Desert I normally don’t order because running 5 miles to burnt that is just too much a price to pay, but they were delivered🫣 So tempting, I digged in just for the taste, lemon pie, well balance of sweet/sour with that nice buttery crust. Guilty as I felt I finished it 😳 Final surprise came, my bill, down the memory lane, like in 80’s, love it, retrospect😝 oh, forgot to mention service was friendly 🍷🍷 Second visit, ordered escargots, baked camembert cheese, beef...
Read moreWe went there in a group of 5 girls on a Buy-1-Get-1-Free Monday evening, so we struggled to order 4 or 6 main dishes. Since we do not eat a lot, we decided to just order 4 mains.
However, when it comes to the bills, the staff told us that we are not entitled to the Buy-1-Get-1-Free offer, as we didn't order at least 5 mains.
Yet, no staff at the restaurant has informed us that beforehand, all they did were to push us to order more, but never told us 'or else we are not entitled to the offer'. There was no effective communications to let us know this hidden rule, especially with the staff heavily accented english.
When we were going through the bills, we tried to clarify the situation, so there was some back-and-forth among the staff and us. In the end, we just paid 4 main dishes and could not enjoy the offer. But the worst part is that, a female staff rolled her eyes on us as we left, as if we were the ones to be blamed!
Looking back at their T&C, the restaurant never mentions that there is a minimum requirement to enjoy the offer, so we are basically been scammed.
Totally not...
Read morePresented with an elegant simplicity, the Chateaubriand Grilled Tenderloin is the star of the show. Expertly cooked to a perfect medium-rare, its rich, meaty texture and flavor form the crux of this dish. The grilled exterior encapsulates a tender, juicy interior that is a delight to taste buds. Each bite resonates with a succulent, umami-rich flavor that is accentuated by the precise searing technique, which lends a slightly smoky, charred undertone to the meat.
Upon arrival, the Confit de Canard presents itself as a visually enticing masterpiece. The golden-brown, crispy skin of the duck leg hints at the sumptuous flavors that await. The dish is elegantly plated, showcasing the succulent meat nestled in a bed of tender vegetables. Such attention to detail in presentation adds to the overall allure of the dish.
The Confit de Canard is 9/10 dish you must try, and I don't have to mention the "Escargots de Bourgog" you will order it anyway, it is a signature dish.
p.s. It was funny the guy told us not to order spaghetti in a...
