An Italian American social club with a sophisticated dining area on its second floor. Dimly lit with brown leather sofas and a soft warm glow from its bar counter, I would describe it as cozy and casual with a touch of elegance.
🍹Spicy rigatoni all a vodka HKD 165 💭That creamy tomato based sauce with a touch of heat from the vodka was incredible!😍 I did secretly wish it was paired with fresh handmade pasta though 🙈
🍬Urchin caramelle HKD 180 💭Such a fun pasta shape😂 Half were filled with a sundried tomato based filling, which was very decent, while the only half were filled with a sea urchin based filling, which was a little disappointing as the sea urchin had a pungent fishy smell that was rather unpleasant. The manager was very pleasant when we shared our thoughts and promised to let the chef know. He also mentioned that they change their menu every month so no worries about this item being stuck on the menu forever😉
🦞Frank’s veal and lobster meatball HKD 90 💭Definitely better (and pricier) than the average meatball, I did love that touch of mild seafood flavour and the bits of lobster present present throughout though😍 A beautiful pair with cheese 🧀 and their homemade red sauce!
Overall I would say food was decent but not outstanding considering their price point. However, I must say I had a great dining experience that evening and much of it was because of their delicious spread of antipasti offered on the house! I was genuinely impressed and very much flattered by this extremely generous gesture 😍
Their fried pizza dough, generously coated with shredded mozzarella, was delicious😍 It has puffed up beautifully such that the inside was actually hollow and was perfect with their homemade red sauce! The artichokes and roasted cauliflowers were perfectly seasoned, the mozzarella had more of a mild flavour, and the anchovies was paired with some sort of slightly sour ingredient to balance out its saltiness.
The final item was, again, something offered on the house! Being a sweet Italian liquor on ice topped with sliced blood orange...
Read moreGround floor is a bar, and the upper floor is a restaurant. I believe there will be more customers on weekdays drinking alcohol. On weekends, there are less customers so we can sit for longer and chat under a quieter environment. They serve a weekend lunch set for $198, including gnocco fritto, appetizer, main and family-styled tiramisu. The gnocco fritto is fried dough served with red sauce. It is chewy and doughy but a bit greasy. The lettuce in the caesar salad is very fresh and fully coated with the sauce, perfect! I guess rigatoni is one of their signature dish. Then, the waitress will grate the cheese over the table side. The sauce is flavourful with tomato, cream and vodka, and the pasta has soaked up all the flavours. The Calabrian hot chilli is definitely an add-on, spicy and sweet! The chicken breast is a big surprise! The chicken breast is sliced into a thin slice, juicy and tender. The citrus lemon sauce and chives is very matchy, making it super fresh and tasty. Below the chicken is broccolini with chilli. It is very good as well. Ending the meal with a family-styled tiramisu. The waitress directly scooped a portion from the dish and sprinkled powdered cocoa on top. The lady fingers soaked up the coffee but the cheese mixture is not strong enough. Although the portion is small, the service and dedication the waitress gave is worth the hype. Definitely revisiting for Italian...
Read moreAbsolutely phenomenal restaurant. From top to bottom one of the best experiences I have ever had. The atmosphere is relaxed and refined. The music is all vinyl spun live. The drinks are wonderfully crafted and delivered with care. The food is absolutely one of a kind and like nothing I have had. I had my doubts going to an Italian restaurant in Hong Kong but have no doubt this is a must visit.
All of those things still don’t do justice to the best part of the entire place. The staff and the service they provide is better than I have received in any restaurant the world over. The manager, Wahid, floats around the dining room with an eye so keen he doesn’t miss a single detail. He is incredibly engaging and takes time to talk with customers and his recommendations are not to ignored. If he tells you to get something you should not even think twice. His service and level of care shows a true devotion to providing an incredible experience for customers. Me and my friends had the opportunity to meet several of the staff including the head chef and the proprietor and they treated us more live friends than customers. Honestly there are not enough words to describe how incredible the experience was. It’s not a question of if but when I will return to Frank’s. Don’t even hesitate to walk in and dine here....
